NES video double vision

I've cleaned and taken apart. I'm just very uncertain as to what the exact problem is.

I've tried different games and the same result pops up; the sprites will split and get chopped up when moving across the screen. This really sucks when you're trying to hit enemies or make tricky jumps. If anyone knows what might be causing then please leave a comment. Thank you

  • possibly bad RF adapter if your using one. tv might be going out? other than that i dont know.
  • either a bad game or a dirty cart connector.
  • There's a possibility it could be hardware/software or connector issue. I'm leaning towards the connections to the TV right now, but if you can get a picture or video of it happening we can know for certain.
  • I've made sure the pins, the board the pins slide into, and the pins on the games I tried on the nes were all cleaned.

I also used both a/v and rf and two different tv's. If it's anything, it would be something that outputs the video on the board. It's just super strange to me because it really only seems to affect the sprites and moving graphics.

I have a video of zelda showing the problem here:

  • That's definitely a problem of your CPU or PPU, not sure the most likely culprit. If you have an everdrive, are able to obtain repros (by making or buying), or are lucky enough to have an actual copy, you should run the World Class Service Control Deck Test Cartridge, and see if it detects errors.
  • I agree, this is a hardware issue. It's most likely your PPU is acting up.
