Help: RGB Mod for my NES Toaster

So, my wife has decided that my CRT is too bulky and she wants me to use my NES Toaster on our flat screen HDTV. No problem I tell her, I'll just buy a Framemeister for $450 if she wants my CRT gone that badly. Anyway, I thought I could just buy a Framemeister, hook my RCA composit inputs into the FM and be done with it; boy was I wrong. After watching a few videos I find out about RGB, SCART cables, SCART adapters, etc.

My first question is, can anyone here mod my toaster for RGB and how much will it cost? Anyother alternative suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

  • well rbg modding isnt a simple task for the nes. if your not concerned  about image quality i would just use a conposite to hdmi converter.

this is what I hear. Do you have any suggestions for a good converter? Would it be about the same quality as playing on a CTR, is there any lag?

  • There's several people who can install a NESRGB into the NES-001 (toaster aka front loader) like Jason from game-tech.us

That'd give the NES the ability to output RGB. There's also buffalowing/helder which make 3d printed sockets for multiout/wii cables and I think they even have a RGB to component converter board.

So it'd be possible to get the NES-001 to output component that way... I wouldn't expect it to be cheap though with parts and labor.

if you go with the rbg mod you will gain a much higher sharpness and quality image.
  • I've installed many NESRGB boards, a few for NA members here.

If you need help let me know
