Been relisted a million times, it'll last quite a while...

Already have one otherwise I would have made an offer myself.
  • I messaged the ebay seller if the proto has been dumped, he replied saying "yes".

There are like 3-4 (possibly even more) of these out there, game was dumped years ago.  I want to say it was dumped by The Lost Levels, and if not, at the very least it had some great info and coverage there:  http://www.lostlevels.org/200404/200404-squashed.shtml

To my knowledge all builds are identical on each of the prototypes.

Yeah, that was us. I intentionally never took credit for it on the articles because I wanted us to be taken seriously instead of being a "ROM site."

  • I'm suprised it hasn't sold since there are less than a handful in existence and it was never officially released in North America because Nintendo wouldn't allow it to be released here. I guess because it was dumped people would rather have the repo vs the proto.

There is zero credible evidence that "Nintendo wouldn't allow it to be released here." There was some rumor started on the internet years and years ago that maybe the game was too close to Mario 3 and Nintendo got mad and this somehow became accepted as truth, even though the game clearly got far enough in Nintendo's licensing program to be approved. It's much more likely Jaleco chose not to release it.
  • I guess it's just speculation, I just reread the article;it seems you would know best according to your previous reply. Even if it was Jaleco who chose not to release it, you would think someone would be interested. There was another forum post quite a few months back that quoted it between $500-900. I Don't know if that's true or if the market just isn't there.
  • Dumped protos that are unreleased you would be very lucky to get $500.

IF this was undumped, $3000 easy.

Once dumped you can get a repro for $30, the novelty has worn off, etc. Trying doing a running auction. Much better that way. Or VGA it.

$4K+ now apparently judging by Chip's Challenge.

I don't know why, but prices on prototypes seem to have exploded over the past few months. Even run of the mill GameBoy protos go for over $100, often times for a lot more than that. Just earlier this year you could get GB ones for sub-$50.

And again, I tried to tell people before I listed them on eBay.

    THis is why:

Ebay allows protos now. Therefore everyone sees them. Now the value goes back up.

And yet again I had people asking to buy GB protos after I had cheaper ones before for this very reason.

  • Oh that's great to know, I've got a giant backlog of SNES stuff to offload.
  • RedEye: I've sold maybe 150 protos on ebay in the last 6 months with no issues...
  • Squashed Prototype sold for $600. eBay & PayPal have some hefty fees!
