I will be extremely disappointed with you guys if I am still leading that scoreboard by Friday night, when I will be able to resume the quest to beat NES games.
Hey! It's not my fault I have a long one and it takes a while to beat it.
Okay, beaten Dragon Power twice. It has 4 different options at the end, 3 of which gives different endings and one that starts you over.
I will beat it once more to pick the third ending that I didn't pick yet and ignore the option that has you start over.
Edit: Okay, Dragon Power is beaten. Got all three endings.
Wow, impressive! That's a pretty nasty game since it's so dependent on random item drops.
Did you have to continue at Level 7 at all, or were you able to plow straight through to the end with the bonus health every time?
For these runs, I was able to plow through level 7 without too much of a hitch. Back in 2012 I played this game more times than I should and ended up half decent at it. XD
I intend to buy some video capture equipment during 2015, and when I do I will definitely record a run of this awful game.

It is so bad, but I can't help enjoy playing it.
Awesome, and I feel the same way. I beat it for the site in 2012, and it was so satisfying to finally get the best of my childhood nemesis (I don't think I ever got past Level 8 as a kid). It has a bizarre charm. Level 10 is pretty tricky, but a lucky cupcake or two can help a lot.
And getting a run up on YouTube would be great. Did you ever find the secret area near the end of Level 3? I only ever triggered it once, and I've never foundanything about it online. Somehow I was sent into some kind of a building or guesthouse. I apparently slept there overnight (the palette shifted to nighttime colors, like a "good night" sequence) and regained full health!
Beaten with the Black pieces on Level 3. (I couldn't figure out how to flip the board, but I did indeed play as Black.)
I didn't think I had a winning attack yet, but the CPU abruptly committed suicide by throwing away its queen, which is usually a sign that it's spotted a forced mate and is trying to delay it by any means possible.
Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle done. Childhood favorite of mine, can't help but think child me had a bit of a dull taste lol
Child me enjoyed Hunt for Red October on the NES. Talk about dull tastes haha. If only I could go back in time...
When I began collecting nes games as a teenager my cousin and I would make it a point to play each game after getting and damn. Red October was still the worst of the bunch.
Ok, what is with Shooting Range? It seemed glitchy when I beat it last year, but tonight is just ridiculous. I've beaten the game five times, including acing the bonus level, but it's never given me the bonus 10,000 points that are needed to get to 40,000 for the gold medal. The bonus points for clearing that saloon stage are not showing up before, during, or afterward, and it's just not possible to get to 40,000 without that. I even got a silver medal on one run, scoring 37,000 without the bonus (which is probably an even greater achievement).
And there is almost no information about this game on the internet. I've tried several searches, and there's just one bare-bones FAQ on GameFAQs. Is there supposed to be some other requirement to get the bonus 10,000, or is this game just the hot glitchy mess I'm thinking it is? The manual doesn't even seem to be right or helpful. It says the "C" and "W" items are worth 100/1000 points respectively, but they were consistently worth 200 apiece when I played tonight (the same as any other powerup item you shoot).
I'm pretty sure I got the bonus before.
I got gold on it 2 years ago, it just took several attempts.
I don't remember a lot about it, but it wouldn't surprise me if the manual is wrong.
See, I got gold on it last year for the challenge thread. But I played it twice in a row while acing the bonus round and not getting the bonus. I played it a third time, it gave me the bonus before I got to the bonus round, and didn't take it away after I ran out of ammo before clearing the stage.
I've also gone back and beaten the game four more times this afternoon. Each time, I cleared the bonus round. Each time, it denied me the bonus. What the hell?!
Took longer than I thought it would, forgot how SLOOOOOOOOOOOW everything in it is, but Final Fantasy is done. I didn't play this one on my nes since I have no real chair in the game room yet, so zelda\metroid are fine, but 4-8 hours a day for FF? Not happening
Combat. Takes. For. Ever. Since. Every. Thing. Is. So. Slow.
Addams Family: Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt is done. I played through this for the first time last year and really enjoyed it. I think I enjoyed it even more the second time through.

And that gets in the way of playing nes games!

What a turd! If you speak French you should check out Joueur du Grenier's review of this game

Well, I loved Rambo, Superman and Super Pitfall as a child. Still love Rambo and Super Pitfall as much. Love Superman much more now.
Super Pitfall would be a good game if it wasn't for the invisible items and unpredictable stuff like having to jump into a bird.
I hate cryptic stuff like that. Same reason I hate Deadly Towers.

Maybe it holds a value in memory, even if you hit reset, which causes a bug.
Or maybe it just sucks LOL

Working on Hydlide now. (Not trying to "claim" it, but I just wanted to avoid duplicating efforts in case someone else is already working on it too.)
Yes, cause there's such a rush to play it.
