  • Kung Fu Heroes is done! Sorry Bea didn't notice you were going to play it until I just posted this now! Played it with my brother and we crushed it!

  • Ultima V done
  • Well, I guess I have to hunt more games to beat then. All the ones I got this weekend got beaten.
  • alright you guys have officially beaten every game I have in my collection!
  • (unless I were to play on emulators, but I don't)
  • Found a Might & Magic: Secret of the Inner Sanctum here in Brazil and ordered it.

Should be at my place by Wednesday so I will get started on it as soon as I get my hands on it.

I will see if I can find some others from the extremely small unbeaten games around here as well. Ordering them from abroad would mean between 2 and 20 weeks for them to get here, so that won't be an option.

    It's a good game.

Have you played it before?  You can skip a lot of things if your only goal is to beat the game, but then you miss out on a lot of cool things.  But you can also spend forever playing it, if you try to find all the secrets.

When I finally beat it last year, my livingroom was covered in maps LOL

I had it on the MSX back in the late 80s, so I played it a fair bit.

Not that I remember much of it, but I remember having a lot of fun back then.

For this, I will go straight to the end, then set the game aside to be played again later in the year, with a slower pace.

First I want to help as much as I can with cleaning this list, then no death Ikari Warriors. Then I will revisit some of the games I had fun with during this whole crazyness.

  • Started on Star Voyager and flew into a black hole . Going to try and knock this one out, yes I'm putting off all the strategy games as long as I can!
  • Romance of the Three Kingdoms II is done! Took me a while to beat it in level 2 difficulty but I developed a solid strategy, maybe next time I'll try at difficulty 3 and/or see if I can do it with a new ruler.

Next I'll give Shingen the Ruler a try!
  • I started the first wizardry, never actually played it before. I'm about 4 hours in...

I have three characters made for the party. Damned rare random rolls. Worst part is I know starts are not THAT important, if I change classes they reset the bonuses anyways.
  • Tracking says Might & Magic was delivered today. Tonight I will start on it.
  • Star Voyager is done! We're on the final push everyone!!! Then we take over the SNES thread and beat all of those
  • Is anybody already playing Faria? I was thinking of playing that next, unless someone is already on top of it.
  • I have a feeling itll all be up to me and Mutant Virus at the end I haven't even started it... Im really not looking forward to it.

Daria has a whole thread devoted to it
  • I'm still on the first level\floor of Wizadry Mad Wiz, but most chars are leveled to 10, except my gnome ninja. I've been killing a ton of murphy's ghosts by just mashing the A button for a while, seeing he's dead, hit B twice, then mash A some more, healing every fights. As a matter of fact I'm mashing it with my big toe while I work.
  • Hey guys does anybody know if in Treasure Master you're supposed to beat the Prize World? I'm on the third world now and was using an FAQ and read about this Prize World (which sounds awesome for a game from 1991).

the image of a big toe mashing an nes controller made my day
  • just to remove any doubt I would say do the prize world although in my opinion since you couldn't really play the level on the games actual release I don't think it should count also how did you fight those space crafts in star voyager I could not come up with a strategy to consistently beat them
  • It was a lot more getting lucky enough to not die than it was a consistent strategy. At first I'd just go lasers blazing (badump tsh) sorry, but that wasn't working so I tried to just focus on the mothership. Once I warped to an area with the mothership, I would immediately use the shield and just go crazy on the mothership, sometimes I would get through with minimal damage and other times I'd get wrecked by the other ships. Basically it was a combination of luck and a tiny bit of strategy if that helps. I also got the Star Bomb (used the FAQ for that one) and would use that if things were going south. Definitely save that for a mothership though, and only when you really need it because you get one chance with it. Don't use it too early and don't fly into the black holes!

    And enjoying it!

Surprised no one's beaten Pirates! yet, if it's anything like the Genesis remake it's not a hard game.
  • Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord is done.

If you haven't played this game before, it's pretty much the first computer RPG where you had a party, and was the first to use many of the things we consider common in RPGs.  It's also damned short.

There's 10 levels in the game, each level is a 20x20 grid.  Many of the RPGs I've played later have the last levels of the game as 5 or so 16x16 levels, so just in pure size this is a small game.  HOWEVER, you can skip the vast majority of the game.  As a matter of fact most of the levels have no reason to vist them.  To get to level 10, you have to get to level 9.  To get to 9, you can cast a teleport spell, or take an elevator from level 4.  You can NOT get to it from level 8 without using the same elevator that you saw on level 4.

So not counting the grinding\leveling up, it played like this:  Take elevator on level 1 to level 4.  Find blue ribbon on level 4 that lets you use second elevator, take second elevator to level 9.  Walk about 7 steps to get to the shoot, drop to level 10.  Fight 5-6 encounters, get to last boss.  And to make things worse, the best place for experience is on level 1.  A weak ghost who grants a lot of EXP and spawns on command.  You just have to mash A till he's dead, tap B twice to search for him again, and mash A till the fight starts and till he's dead.

No, I did not fight him with 2 HP left, Frelite was a cleric before turning into a mage, so I had plenty of healing power

One thing I hate about the game is how random the level ups are.  Sometimes you gain 1 hp and even LOSE stats, and one time my lead sam gained 48 hp on level up.

I may make another party of magi -> clerics -> lords next time. I wasn't thrilled with the ninja, I never saw him instant kill once. This is the type of game though where you can swap out anyone you want to the party, so I do not have to start over to make a party of magic lords
  • It's nice to have you back, Ozzy. Will you be doing the second Wizardry game as well?

I don't know, I'm a bit off of my game.  My mother passed away about a month and a half ago, then my wifes cat, who she had for 14 years had a stroke.  He almost completly recovers, then has a second stroke about two weeks ago.  He seems ok now, but with all that happened plus being swampped at work, this may be all I do for a bit.  If no one has it done once I'm done with some projects at work I'll come back around to it.

Side note, mag -> priest -> lord as a combo sucks. I forgot you have to allow "friendly" monsters go, can't attack everything you see else you become evil, and can't be a lord anymore.  Screw that, I'm not letting friendly undead kobolds to just leave.

Yeah, I don't think the prize world is necessary. Although I'm curious what the ending looks like without it, I can't seem to find a video online that doesn't include it.

  • Might & Magic is done.

I pretty much spent the night up to finish this one.

Now on to mahjong and Dropzone. Hopefully I will get both done on this 4 days weekend I have.
  • Well I didn't read your posts, but I went ahead and restarted and beat Treasure Master including the Prize World. I'll play through it again once we're done and let everyone know!

    Treasure Master = done

Do I need to play on hard difficulty for Mahjong? If not then that one is done too, I downloaded the PAL games to see how they were. Might have to try and buy a few of these like Noah's Ark.

No, easy is fine. But I think you have to win three games in a row to get some sort of message (or maybe best out of 5). At least that's what I read somewhere. Did you do that?
