Well that was kinda disapointing. I was expecting a bunch of hard last fights, had 999 foor, troops, and gold in the last few areas, ready to crush the opponents, when I decided to try to ask for their surrender, and they did. I checked the map info, and most of the 5 or so areas I had left to beat had under 100 troops. The last area I had to fight surrendered even, so very weak end game challange there. But the ending was pretty nice.
So yep, Gemfire is done. Wasn't expecting two games in one day.
That's pretty crazy how the list looks completely different this year. Scary, I'm looking forward to seeing what games will be worth next year.
I can now tell you exactly what each game will be worth next year - the order of the last few games won't change anything. But first, here's a look at how many games will change:

Finally, here's the complete list of games and what they'll be worth in 2016. Games in bold changed by two points in either direction.
I'll see if I can dig out my power glove and try Super Glove Ball soon.
I hope you're not serious about the Power Glove... game is bad enough with a regular controller.
But if you beat it with the Power Glove that will be very impressive.
If you want a tip, you can build up lots of extra lives and power-ups if you don't rush through the stages, even though the tendency is to rush through because it's so boring.
I didn't realize you could even play it with a controller. I asumed the only reason it was still on the list was because you needed the glove. I dont get very many reasons to play with it though so I have to at least try

Just watched a video of the game so I don't go in blind. How exactly do you collect 1-ups? Is it through the ? Mark blocks? Are there any continues or are you game over as soon as you run out of men?
I'm going to try it first with the power glove, I'll keep a controller on hand as a back up though. The game honestly doesn't look too bad to me. Kinda seems like Orb 3D mashed with Arkanoid, both games that I enjoy.

Yeah you collect extras through the ? blocks. It's been awhile since I played but I'm pretty sure there are no continues.
The worst part of the game is trying to find your way back on track if you accidentally go to the wrong room. Sometimes you will warp to the wrong room just by the ball hitting the wrong block, and then you're screwed. If it was just a matter of clearing all the blocks, it wouldn't be so bad, but the way you traverse rooms is cryptic.
Anyone interested in playing Overlord? I like the game and can burn through it quite quickly unless someone is dying to play it.
Go ahead and kill it.
Meanwhile, the rum is gone here, and so is Pirates!
I finally beat it. I have been playing it non-stop from where I stopped yesterday since 7 am today. It is 9 pm.
I am also fairly tipsy thanks to all the rum. >.>
I was looking into it, but it'd take me too long to learn it.
Or relearn it. I think I had the C-64 version of the game, or maybe Amiga.
I've also never played Shingen the Ruler, about all I know on that, it's a HotB game with a stupid label, one of the few games where the cart and box are not the same art. I can't beat tetris, think someone else is working the other two koei games, I know Daria is working Faria and pretty close to it, so yea, think it's time to help the snes guys.
I would have beaten this game already if it had a password system! If I dont do it one of you guys'll have your system on for at least 11 hrs like I did
I forgot I actually beat this game on an emulator with a save state at level 5, so i can get the maps and try out different strategies. None worked haha. Its a lot of luck what rooms go bad.

I'm messing with tetris 2, and holy crap it takes forever. Got to level 35 yesterday and it was just a slog. Having a hard time imagining going through this til after level 80, but if no one else is currently playing it, I'll give it a try.
Wasn't there someone playing Genghis Khan still? It's been many years since I played it, when I rented it with some VHS tapes, so I'm a bit rusty. But I do remember it's sloooooow to beat.
I'm trying to speed-run breath of fire right now on SNES, but work is having none of that.
Say it ain't so, Nick! I was hoping your competition with Bea would go down to the last game. And congrats on Overlord; even with reading up on tips and strategy I still can't do crap in that game.
Nobunaga's Ambition being worked on? I'm working two snes games now, so might be a bit before I come around to that one. Also thinking about a third snes game, little known game called "Gemfire". Wonder if I can beat it....

I'm working on it. I had to stop for a few days because I was sick.
But if somebody else beats it before me, that's fine.
I took over 3 countries tonight, so I don't think it will take me much longer.

We have performing fairly well this year. This is good and makes me happy.
I would drink to that, but I am already drunk.
If you're playing Pirates!, you must be drinking rum. If you're not drinking rum, you need to start.

I haven't drank a single drop of alcohol today!
But while cooking lunch, I baked a strawberry pie, and for the jello icing, I used quarter a litre rum, quarter a litre vodka.
I guess this counts.
So yep, Gemfire is done. Wasn't expecting two games in one day.

It's not very hard, but it takes awhile.
I've never played any games like this on the NES before. I guess this ought to take a fair bit to finish.

You can do it!
And if you don't, we will do it.

I forgot I actually beat this game on an emulator with a save state at level 5, so i can get the maps and try out different strategies. None worked haha. Its a lot of luck what rooms go bad.
It is tough, yes, but don't give up champ.
Eye of the tiger, Champ. Eye of the tiger.
Talk about a confusing game. This one will take a fair bit of time to beat.

You have to battle to get better at battling.
So there is a bit of a grinding process, doing the same battle over and over until you can fight the tougher guys.
The hardest part is the beginning, where you start forming a pattern that works, and the end where you kill off the strongest enemies.
The faq on gamefaqs is good, as I recall.

Thanks for the tips. I will keep them in mind.
It will be a few days till I get the hang of this properly and get to beat it.
I'm trying to speed-run breath of fire right now on SNES, but work is having none of that.
But I am also pretty much at my last game, unless Tetris 2 or Mutant Virus aren't beaten within the next 2 or 3 weeks that I will be busy with Shigen.

Wasn't there someone playing Genghis Khan still? It's been many years since I played it, when I rented it with some VHS tapes, so I'm a bit rusty. But I do remember it's sloooooow to beat.
I'm working on it. I had to stop for a few days because I was sick.
But if somebody else beats it before me, that's fine.
I took over 3 countries tonight, so I don't think it will take me much longer.
