okay, I think the black dots are the virus, because I noticed that as long the all the black dots are contained in your antibody color, the room is cleared, even if there are still patches of the other color remaining
After reading this last page I got curious about Mutant Virus and played it a bit on my pc.
The black dots are definitely the virus. If you can turn every square that has a black block to blue you will clear the area even if there are squares that aren't blue.
I managed to get to the second level but it got very hard and I lost all my lives. I didn't understand how you take damage.
Interesting tidbit, this is one of the few games that has had ZERO mentions of it in Nintendo Power. I went trying to look in there and found nothing. Theres a website that compiles how much each licensed NES game has been talked about and only about 20 were never mentioned. Along the others i remember were Swamp Thing, Best of the best champ karate and wwf steel cage,

You able to link that? I'm interested in reading it!

Hey, that's my site! If you have any questions on it, feel free to ask. I'd like to do that for every magazine in the NES era (through 1994). I was almost done doing all the Gamepro issues from the NES era, but it's very difficult to determine whether certain ads should count for NES games if they're multiplatform. So I'll have to figure that out eventually.
I found it by trying to see if there was any reference to Mutant Virus in Nintendo Power.
I just picked up Krion Conquest... WOW. THAT is a hard game. Mutant Virus I got really quickly, just that last room is patience in getting tons of continues. Krion... 3 lives no continues?! Thats Double Dragon 3 insanity!
So I may have snuck in a Faria playing the past week or so, that way if I can beat Mutant Virus too I can pass Bea . Anyways should be done with it soon, have a few days off work so I'm going to steal it, sorry Daria but I needed a break from the virus!
We're down to the final game. In 2012 it was L'Empereur, now in 2015 it's The Mutant Virus. Looks like a number of people are giving it a go, with no success yet.
Nick, if you end up beating it, you'll snipe Bea for first place.
I am finally starting to (barely) understand a few things about this game... like the weapons... The gun is basically useless, its all about and dropping the CM in a key location... especially on some of the virus propagators, that are otherwise invincible to your gun.
No one is working together. I already put up some strats up to level 3 and maybe half way thru level 4 I dont remember. Its all about CM placements.
Its a puzzle game! We need to know the BEST WAY to solve the puzzle! Work together peeps! I have been out of it because no one else has been helping. Too many lone wolfs
Having to take care of dad this weekend, but next one I will try my usual strategy for games like this.
Get a bottle of absinthe at my side and drink at each game over till I am not bothered by it any more and somehow manage to succeed after several tries in my drunken stupor.
Worked good so far for frustrating games. Might work on this one again.

I'd be more interested in this game if I didn't overplay asteroids on Atari as a kid.

So it's time for me to show you guys how it's done.
Uh, as soon as I read the directions.

not that much 'reading' involved
Seems pretty self-explanatory actually, if you understand the Game of Life.
Beat level 1, then did all of level 2 except 1 room. Apparently there's a buggy block that won't change color? What the hell?
Do you get unlimited continues?
[edit]Made it to level 3. This game is indeed a pain.

you dont need to change the color. Just need to change the viruses to be on your color. Once all viruses are working for you, it's clear.

There's still a bug there that won't let you change it. GuitarZombie also mentioned it in his guide.
Time to return to the virus!

But he has a good chance of doing it. I will only be able to go back to this seriously next weekend.
I'm going to back to playing a good game.
