  • You need to move around and do more, even if your weightloss app says 2000 calories a day to drop a pound a week. You have too much starch and carbs in your diet. Don't skip breakfast either. If you get sick, wait an hour or 2 after you wake up. YOU have to adjust, otherwise you're doing nothing but causing more stress on yourself because you aren't losing.

Switch to Diet Mt. Dew if you absolutely must drink soda, and tea is fine if you drink it purely unsweetened, otherwise sugars will negate what you're trying to do.
  • Hey guys!

Scale reads 172. That is down from when I started. I have had a relatively good week in terms of activity and diet. I am drinking way less pop but did have a pretty high calorific day on Friday due to some negative events. I guess you could call it a "slip" but I dont want to keep sliding so I will keep at becoming healither. For me, cheesy expressions and even videos seem to help and I remember reading "When you feel like giving up just remember why you started" I find it helpful because there are days when I do not feel up to the new health lifestyle, let me tell you. I also saw this video and it I think it's pretty inspiring. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=820062751389312. Good luck to everyone, we can!

  • 242.5 today, so half way to my 25 lb loss goal. Haven't lost as much weight this week, but did get a compliment that I looked thinner from a friend I haven't seen since new years eve.
  • Weighed myself but forgot to post. 232.5.
  • I've got stuck at 172 since last week, then the kids and I got sick and miserable. There's a big cold running around San Diego.
  • Started to just take the stairs up 3 floors when I get to work each day instead of taking the elevator!

That should help lose a few freebie pounds!

All joking aside, I got a stomach bug of some sort a few Christmases ago.  It was like a nice holiday mulligan of sorts, although I have no idea how people do that to themselves on purpose.

  • I did the 30 minute circuit training workout this morning, since I was a little slow getting out the door this morning to do my full workout. It went pretty well.
  • I've been hanging out at 191 for the past few days. Ever since getting a large crack on my foot, running went out the door...luckily it has pretty much healed, so I will get back to running tonight or tomorrow. I hope to get into the high 180s by the end of the week, which would put me back into the weight range I was in before my mom had gotten cancer. Thus so far, lost about 9 pounds. On another note, one of my students called me "Teacher Pig" yesterday, I guess that is somewhat of a reverse compliment :'(

I've really cut back on my drinking, and have also pretty much nixed the soft drinks, though I did find a Pink Pepsi from Japan the other day, and most of my beer drinking has been replaced by some homemade (mildly intoxicating) Apfelwein, which I am sure is much healthier for me.

Tonight I will go to the night market to eat some fried foods though, better beware!

You seem to have terrible luck with reverse compliments! On the upside, if your students are children, I wouldn't worry about it too much? You sound like you're doing good and I'm scared to look into what foot cracks are. It sounds terrible.

I'd figure in my eating I'd get about that much. My normal day looks like this

Breakfast - Skip it or have a glass of orange juice since I can't eat early or I get sick.

Lunch - Turkey and low fat chedder cheese on a roll, with light chicken noodle soup, or rice and curry with veggies

Dinner - Homemade dinners (I usually look up the calories online) with a cup of veggies

Drinks - Mt. Dew (trying to cut down still), half tea-half lemonade, sometimes water with flavoring.

Snacks - If I have enough calories left I'll get a bowl of sherbat, or a handful of pretzels, or a small whatever thats within my leftover calories.

I mean the only bad thing I have is Mt Dew. I'm not stuffing my face with chips and chocolate. So why the hell am I gaining weight if I eat low fat stuff?

Not sure if you saw my edit; I added some more info above that may be helpful.   Your current food intake might be too shocking for your body to handle (might be contributing to your dizziness?)   Not sure how many Dews you normally consumed, but instead of counting those in your calorie count for now just have like a can less per day (so if you have 4 per day normally, have 3 every day instead) and then try to knock that down every couple weeks.

Do you like milk at all?   That might be something better to have for breakfast if you can't hack eating anything that early.

I have no idea how many calories I took in most days...I have been eating more veggies and lower fat options but on a whole my diet has stayed the same. I might have been taking in maybe 3000? So dropping to 2050 isn't that big of a shock for my system I would think.

I usually have 3 dews a day...I've been trying to drink more tea and water. Replacing the dew sort of...

Also yeah I like milk but it has to be lactose free and even then I can only have x amount or I start getting stomach aches. I'd think orange juice would be better for you then milk? Or are you going by protein?

    1. Breakfast. The reason you're feeling 'sick' are cramps that occur because your bowels are shifting to exit. Heard of 'morning shit'? Its a ritual all our bodies have built within ourselves as a way to expel all the toxens the body has been working throughout our sleep to eliminate.

    2. If your not working out...you're not going to lose weight. Dieting on itself does not bring real long term results

Want to tell everyone to keep up the progress! Summer is approaching us faster than you think!

Actually no. It's not that. I know my body and it isn't that. It happens after I use the bathroom. The only thing that doesn't make me sick is liquids...like orange juice or tea. I'm thinking about trying a smoothie for breakfast and seeing if that upsets my stomach...
  • EDIT: phone messed up

I need you to fix my start weight to this post from a week ago.

Anyways, week 1 went down easy. Diet was on point, no cravings, and kicked the booze. Anyways, weighed in today at 307.5. Pretty stoked. I usually do well my first week, but not this well. Hopefully in 2 weeks I'll be back to the 200's. I'll be incorporating some exercise this week to really ramp up the weight loss.

once again, I need you to fix my starting weight.

Once again, another week flys by, and my diet was on point.  It's been going so well, it's actually kinda scarey, and it makes me wonder, why the hell haven't I been doing this longer.  Anyways, i now weigh 302 lbs.  Thats down 5.5lbs from last week, for a total of 19.5lbs.  It's been a great 2 weeks.  I honestly excepted a lower number this week, so that gets me thinking that my plateau week will be next week.  Which is fine, i'm expecting it.  Also, i've really gotta get off my lazy ass and hit up that eliptical.  Not so much to lose more weight, but just overall get in shape.

OP, fix my damn starting weight, or have someone else handle the thread.  forth time I've asked.

Anywho, another week down, and 4.5 more pounds lost.  so starting at 321.5, to 307.5, to, 302, now 297.5!  My diet, once again, on point.  Been making some good healthy and very fullfilling lunches and dinners, it makes me wonder why I don't keep this up all the time, instead of on again, off again.  Well, week 4 starts today, and I this week I'll have 4 days off, so that'll be a good test to see if I can refrain for boredom eating, and drinking.  Also this week my wife and I will celebrate Valantines day early, so that'll be 1 bad night, but 1 night shouldn't effect much.

also, next week, I can't wait to post and compare a starting pic, and a completed week 4 pic.  hopefully there will be a noticeable difference.

  • Friday weigh-in: 207. I was on vacation at Magfest last week so I wasn't counting calories. Jumped back on the diet/exercise routine as soon as I dug myself out of the snow Wednesday.

Thanks cold! I'm down to 168.
  • I'm down a few pounds sinvlce I have decided to modify my diet choices. I think I have had maybe 4 pops since the New Year and have been pretty steady with the elliptical. I have not been on it for the past few days though due to a bad cold I caught and probably complacency. Sweet, comfortable complacency. It's like those old pair of jeans that fit just right. I suppose it can be seen as trite though but as I heard somewhere "If you keep doing what you're doing, you're going to keep getting what you're getting" Which is probably why I usually do not see results. I stop with the changing and keep up with the saming.

I think he's talking about dieting as in where you do something like 1200 calories for a period of time, etc.

For people that do a true lifestyle change and modify what they eat from something out in the stratosphere to something manageable, that's the key to losing weight long-term.   The fad diets just have you drop the weight and then it ends up back on a short time later.

Just my 2 cents but i reduced my calorie intake to 1850 a day and i have dropped about an average of 5 pounds a week without doing a lick of exercise. i started around 230 and 4 weeks later i am just under 205. i also know this wont last forever and soon i will need to hit the treadmill to keep sheding more weight

  • Diet > Exercise for weight loss, as long as it is a true lifestyle change and not some fad diet.

Oh, I am at 189, glad to be back in the 180s. Felt terribly sick last night, and feel better but still sick today. Hope next week I can go running again.
  • I am down to 290. Started at 299. To be honest, last week was the first week that I actually followed my diet all week. And that was with working out every other day. As far as the comments about diet vs exercise, diet is the most important thing when it comes to being healthy and losing weight.
  • Way to go posters above me. I am just wondering how the 90 day challenge group is doing with this weeks challenge? *slaps knee*

We should have put money down on this thread. Haha.
  • Bahahah.. Yeah, but we can all still check in and help each other. This thread had no bearing on whether I was going to eat right or work out. I was gonna do it anyways, and have been for the past year. It just always helps when you have buddies to share the struggle with!
  • My weight has not changed as much as I would have liked in the last couple weeks.
