  • I'm making fantastic headway through Zelda right now. I've tried to play a few times before but never understood why it was so praised but I do now. Just a wonderful game all around and with the challenge ramping up perfectly so far.

legend of zelda really is an epic game when placed in context of when it was released. real shame that it never got a true sequal, zelda 2 was totally different.

hey Foochie, Not sure if you have played it before yet but after you are done with LOZ try Zelda Outlands. it is everything zelda 2 should have been
  • Slayed the Dragonlord in DW1 for the first time, and on my first try at that.

    Yay Me !!

I beat it a few years ago for the first time. I was always lost on what to do when I would start it and give. I finally gave it a serious go with a walk through and after the first temple, I was hooked. Once you get a feel for the adventure, its and excellent game.

To bring the thread back, I haven't beaten anything in 2015, yet. However, I am working through Lego Batman 2 for the Wii, about 20% complete. Not a bad game, lots to do, decent story line. The freeplay world isn't very big, much smaller than Lego Marvel. I love the way they portray Superman as an annoyance to Batman and Robin acts like a fan girl when he shows up.

The Legos games are excellent titles. I've played through all the Star Wars one except the Clone Wars and loved them. Very easy story but getting 100% is quite the feat. As for Zelda I made it to the 7th dungeon today and I can't stop. The adventure is wonderful and the challenge just gradually gives which is perfect.
  • Just played through Super Mario Galaxy for the first time and got all 121 stars. It is actually the first time I've played a Wii game outside of some random Wii Sports years ago. Pretty solid game, a touch too easy though. I'll probably check out SMG2 soon as well.

Good to hear, I was actually surprised how much I liked using the numchuck set up with the Wiimote.

some games it works great with. I felt that way about resident evil 4. The wii version was my favorite to play because of the nunhuck and wiimote

  • 1. Final Fantasy VII - PS1

A week ago I finally finished this game for the first time without using Gameshark. I even beat the Ultima, Emerald, and Ruby weapons which are optional and trained all 8 surviving characters to level 99 after getting at least one of each maxed out material.
  • I just beat Super C!! 1CCed it, too!

I feel pretty confident that I could beat it with one life if I practiced just a little more, but I'm not going to; time to move on to another game!

This game was superior in just about every respect to the original Contra, which itself is an excellent game.

RE4 on Wii is better? I might have to give it a shot, then.

same game but instead of lining up the laser sight. You have a small circle on the screen that is your aim that you point at. I love RE4 and its my personal favorite version. And this coming from a person who hates wiimotes.

I just looked it up on youtube, that actually looks pretty awesome. Makes me want to find a half decent pistol controller.

you have to use the nunchuck though. So a pistol controller might not be optimal. May be awkward. Havent tried it. You have to use buttons on the controller like the plus to get to the suitcase pause. The game gets chaotic and you have to regroup lol. Or atleast I have too.

  • Working on some telltale games. The Walking dead season 1/2 and The Wolf Among Us
  • Beat Yoshi's New Island the other night. It wasn't bad, despite what many people have said about the game. There was just nothing "new" about it.
  • 1-20-2015

Darius Twin with no deaths: This one is by no means impressive challenge wise but I do kind of enjoy the game and there are a few music tracks in there that are pretty awesome. Nice little game for what it was.

I did some testing and I'm pretty sure the route I use is the optimum scoring route, milked the living hell out of the turtle boss, where probably 1/2 of the score in the game comes from.
  • Just beat Mike Tyson's Punchout!! with no continues and 4 knockdown (1 Super Macho Man and 3 Mike Tyson).
  • I just beat Mega Man 5 with a friend and god this game is easy.. The bosses in the Protoman stages are so boring!

Not the worst, but not the best. I liked 1-2-3 more than 5. I still need to play 4 and 6!
  • Just beat Soul Blazer. Pretty solid game, although it was very easy.
  • Finished Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap last week for the second time ever. It was a short but sweet game. Also finished Metroid Fusion, also for the second time ever, which I started and finished the same day.
  • My 1CC run of Super Nova (Darius Force) on hard mode:

Milked the shit out of a certain boss just so I could get the top score on the board here lol. Very cool game, a lot more variety and challenge than Darius Twin.
  • Here's the games I beat this year so far in order from top to bottom:

    Fez

    New Super Mario Bros. U

    Spec Ops: The Line

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Spec Ops was probably my favorite so far. The story just pickups like crazy halfway through. Thought it was going to be a generic third person but it surprised me for sure.

I'll be starting Duck Tales on NES next. I played remastered a little bit but I'd like to enjoy the original and see what makes it so highly regarded.
  • I just beat Battletoads!
  • just beat Illusion of Gaia! Also defeated Solid Arm. Very good game, but not quite as good as Soul Blazer. I didn't like how they removed the ability to teleport between locations or back track. The graphics and sound were excellent, and the play control was solid. The story was a little cheesy but I liked it anyway. 8/10
  • Just "beat" SimCity for the SNES. Got to above 500,000 population in standard mode, and also beat all of the scenarios. Finally beat the Detroit scenario for the first time. You basically have to turn Detroit into a police state and sprinkle police stations everywhere. Fully 1/3rd of all taxes collected went to the police budget, which exceeded the amount spent on transportation. Tearing up some roads and turning them into bike trails (i.e., parks) helps cut down on maintenance costs, pollution, and traffic complaints. So basically Detroit becomes this very pristine city with a well-landscaped network of bike paths crossing the entire city, and with a police station on every other block in case the unruly citizenry needs to be brutally suppressed at a moment's notice. What a great game.
  • E.T. the Extra Terrestrial from Khan Games on the NES. It's a great little adventure.

Also just finished Link's Awakening. A very solid entry in the Zelda lineup.
  • I've just recently beaten The Legend of Zelda, and I'm working on Zelda II now. My goal is to complete as many of my (constantly growing) NES games as possible in 2015!
