Most annoying minor enemies in games

You know what I'm talking about. There are always these annoying recurring enemies that just bug the hell out of you. They might not be necessarily difficult to beat, but they usually come in swarms or using devious tactics that makes you wish you could just annhiliate them with your mind.

A few of mine:

Mario series - Lakitu. So damn annoying. They just float up there in their little cloud thinking they're all high and mighty and throw the spinies down at you without relent. Hammer Bros are definitely annoying but Lakitu easily takes the cake for me as the most frustrating common enemy in Mario.

Metroid - Metroids. They suck the life out of you, literally. So damn annoying when they just attach onto your face and your only way out is a bomb. Sure they're not the hardest enemy to kill, but they seemingly come out of nowhere and at times it feels like there's an unlimited supply of them, especially in the Prime series.

Castlevania - Medusa Heads. With their annoying flying pattern, they come in constant waves, making sure you don't make the jump to the next platform. Like the above, they're not hard at all to kill but they come at the most inconvenient times for a cheap kill.

Zelda - Like-Likes. Not only are they kind of creepy looking, they literally eat your shied. While you're struggling to get out of their grip, they're slowly ingesting you. And when you're finally out of its reach, you realize it swallowed your shield...whole.

Pokemon - Zubat. They're useless, they're annoying, they're everywhere, and no one likes them. Also, they're stupid looking.

Any RPG - Anything poisonous (frogs, bees, bats, sentient mushrooms, etc) A bit of a wide category but you know what I'm talking about. It differs from game to game but there is always some insignificant enemy just waiting in those random battles just to poison you. Their favorite part is when you don't have any antidotes.

So what other really annoying minor enemies can you think of? And why do you hate them?

  • The sun from SMB3. Screw him.
  • Lakitu never gets the best of me, and neither do Metroids. Castlevania takes the cake for the highest volume of, as well as, the most annoying enemies ever. Medusa heads are avoidable, but the axe knights are ri-goddamn-diculous almost all of the time.

The last hallway before Dracula is the prime example. Nothing's more aggravating than dying do to overwhelm, let alone being knocked backwards despite your perfect run.

I used to hate him so much as a kid but he doesn't bother me now. He's easily avoidable.
  • Firebrand - Ghosts N Goblins

    Bats/Medusa Heads/Hunchback - Castlevania

    Hammer Bros - Mario

    Ice Blocks - Catherine

    Eagles - Far Cry 4
  • Bats in Zelda 64!

They scare the crap out of me and I can't seem to auto target and hit them very well. (Yes I suck at Zelda 64)

I've never found him to be an issue either; all of my gripes are with enemy placement and level design more than anything, lol.

You are also one of about 6 people in the entire world who call it "Zelda 64" But yeah, for me I'd have to go with the medusa heads in pretty much all Castlevania games, as well as the eagles in Far Cry 4.
  • Those God forsaken Darknuts and Wizzrobes in the Legend of Zelda.

I would also have to say Shell Blades from Ocarnia of Time.
  • Slimes from Dragon Warrior

    Picky picky!

    LoZ: OoT. That better?

BTW when it was brand new EVERYBODY around here called it Zelda 64.
  • Kid Icarus had some doozies:

Hands down, the Eggplant wizards!! (get cursed, and it was sometimes easier to just reset than to try and get cured)

Losing all your powerups to a Pluton was also the worst.

Another tough enemy were Boneheads in StarTropics, they're so darn fast

The good thing about the Metroids was that hunting them is an easy way to fill up your life meter and missile supply.
  • The first goomba in smb

I thought of the Eggplant Wizards immediately after I posted. They are annoying as hell!

  • Phanto (the possessed masks) from Super Mario Bros. 2

Those things really made me nervous as a kid. Now they're just annoying.

Also, with so many Zelda enemies being brought up, I'm surprised I haven't seen Wallmaster yet

That thing has been annoying people since game number 1
  • You mean Goddamned Bats?

    http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GoddamnedBats

Pretty much any flying thing in any NES platformer, notably the bats and birds in Ninja Gaiden and Castlevania games.

Oh, and +1 to being freaked out by Phanto when I was younger.  That mask would haunt me in my dreams.

Oh god! I forgot about him! I definitely would panic as a kid everytime he appeared.
  • How about the hawk/eagle enemies in the Ninja Gaiden games? Those things are so annoying!
  • I used to be really annoyed by the dogs (Cerberus) in Resident Evil games. Especially since they roam in packs. But I got a lot better over the years at dealing with them. They're one of the best reasons to keep a knife in your inventory. If you can knock it down once, just keep slashing at it. Works wonders in Code: Veronica, as the knife can damage them multiple times in one swipe.
  • The birds and bats in Ninja Gaiden games

The bats and medusa heads in Castlevania games

Those flying eyeball things in Zelda 2 that lower your health AND experience points when they hit you. Screw them!

I'm going with the Medusa heads from Castlevania, but the hawks from Ninja Gaiden are a close second.
  • Speaking of Pokémon, I cannot stand Metapod. "Metapod used harden!". Such a useless Pokémon and takes forever to defeat.
  • CPU-controlled Bowser in Mario Kart or MK64... the guy is an ***hole lol

The hunchbacks and bats are way more annoying to me. At least the Medusas have a fairly set pattern, and you can trick them (jump up and then crouch when one spawns and it'll pass over you.)

The bats seem to spawn at inopportune times, especially on level 4 where you're waiting for a moving platform. And the hunchbacks? Those assholes are just the pissed off spawn of Satan. At least the Medusas and bats don't turn around and FREAKIN' JUMP OVER YOUR WHIP WHEN YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD THE FREAKIN' TIMING DOWN YOU SOUNAFABITCH!

    Sorry...

  • Oh, and the Jagers or whatever in Batman. They're just like the hunchbacks on steroids. Plus the flamethrower guys on the last level.

You have to auto target them pretty fast to be effective.  They are annoying me in my current MM run.

Yeah those dudes in the sewer, fucking nightmare until I figured out their pattern last year.  Now they are just annoying instead of deadly.
  • Those stupid fire bats in LoZ OoT because I am playing it right now.
