Same here! Was just thinking about this. Damn bats come out of nowhere! Taking my hearts...
  • As far as phanto is concerned from mario 2 once I learned just to drop the key and he flys away for awhile then pick it back up. Then he appears. Drop the key . He goes away, then usually you are home free.

Hands down, the Eggplant wizards!! (get cursed, and it was sometimes easier to just reset than to try and get cured)

Losing all your powerups to a Pluton was also the worst.

I came here to post this, 100% agree!
  • The Bees - Hydlide

Missles - Top Gun and Top Gun II

    Everything - Silver Surfer

I would also have to say Shell Blades from Ocarnia of Time.

What about the chickens from Hot Dog Champ?

LMAO yes! Most annoying enemies in Silver Surfer: low hanging ceiling, flat ground, non-distinct pole, etc. The terrain is worse than the enemies half the time.

My main pick for annoying enemies is any jetpack trooper from any game, ever. TMNT, Werewolf, etc. These bastards are the bane of those games' existence.

What the hell if Hot Dog Champ???
  • Not just the bats, but just about anything that can sneak up on you in a 3D Zelda game. I just hate how the screen is suddenly filled with giant sprites. Miniblins from Wind Waker come to mind and also Morths. They're cute for the first few seconds but then look freaky as they fill the screen.
  • Medusa heads from Castlevania, all of them. Turning me to stone right when I jump over instant kill spikes. Yeah, super awesome. -_-

Zubat. I hate zubat. It's the most useless pokemon. It isn't worth much EXP, it's not easy to grind-fight, and it's a terrible pokemon. I forget which online site called it "cave herpes" but that's pretty accurate.
  • Malboro in Final Fantasy games.

They were the first thing that came to mind when I read the thread title. Kid Icarus is one of my all-time favorite games but I recall completely quitting the game multiple times due to the damn Eggplant Wizards.

It gives you a bunch of status effects by breathing on you, so maybe.

    Edit: It's this thing:

Yep, I'd say that dude is definitely a smoker.  Got the messed up yellow teeth, green body, properly named character.

Please sir, I'm poor, I'm sick, and HUNGRY!!

Actually the drunks irritated me even more because they would push you (and only you, apparently) around, often knocking you into guards and blowing your cover.  What was great about AC1 is that you could switch to your fists and pop 'em one (both the drunks and the beggars...or anyone really) without any repercussions, and they'd scurry off.  Too bad they changed that in AC2 where you gain notoriety by doing so but thankfully they took those irritating beggars out.  There you just get swarmed by lutenists.  >_>
  • This is PC,but what about the Creepers in Minecraft? Always dreaded hearing the "sssssss" before the boom.

    THIS !!!!!

  • The Red Arremer in Ghosts n' Goblins is among the worst. He can fly outside your projectile range and swoop down and attack quicker than you can react. He's just a terrible enemy to encounter, but understandably iconic for the series. Also, the Flea Men in the Castlevania games are pretty annoying. They have erratic jump patterns and they're fast, a bad combination.

The Big Eye from Mega Man. There's almost no strategy in defeating these resilient foes. You just pump them full of lead and move on. If you want to avoid them, you need to wait for the right jump pattern, which as far as I can tell is random. They're slow, lumbering, and pose little threat unless you run directly into them. They don't serve to do anything but slow your path to the end, so I would say they're fairly annoying to deal with.

Crimson Head zombies in the Resident Evil remake. They're the reason you've got to either walk around burning corpses or simply learn to avoid zombies. Either way, it's a challenging proposition. To be clear, they're not annoying in a bad way. They add an element of suspense and strategy to the game, but they can easily become a thorn in your side if you don't dispose of them early. The snakes in the remake are also pretty frustrating. At one point in the game, they start falling down from the trees, and it seems random whether or not you'll step on one and get bitten. They appear only once or twice throughout the game, however, so they're not so bad.

Oh hell yes. Nothing worse than an enemy in an RPG that starts every battle by inflicting every status ailment on your party. I've yet to really find an ideal strategy for disposing of them in Final Fantasy VIII to collect the fragments for Doom Train.

I came into this thread with the Red Arremer in mind; what a bastard of 8-bit gaming!

And YES to the Big Eye...I can't count the amount of times I've given up due to said foe sapping my health. I need more patience with the NES Mega Man games, lol.
  • Cactuar can kiss my ass.

  • Bats godd*** F***ing bats from any game ever I hate them in zelda, castlevania and anything else f&*^ bats!

Ha ha! That Batman gif had me rolling.  I just watched Batman the Movie too.  I had the same reaction to phanto as a kid as well.

These guys aren't life threatening but they always manage to shoot me.

Yea that's the joke.  His attack, bad breath, gives you every status issue you can think of all at once.  They're generally really weak though by the time you're supposed to find them.

And then they hide behind their little helmets... assholes.
  • The Spring Roll Ghosts from the NES Ghosts and Goblins are THE most annoying enemy I've ever encountered in a game. Hands down.

I think they're worse in the arcade.  On the nes they kinda have a pattern, but if there's one on the arcade I sure cant get it.

Course I cant beat the first level on nes, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

  • I think the most annoying "enemy" in Ghosts 'n Goblins are all weapon drops besides the dagger.

The GnG series has "power up" weapons so bad you may as well reset the game if you accidentally get them.
