Yet Another Stadium Events up for auction on eBay

  • What an idiot, asking the buyer to pay for the paypal fees.
  • If I'm not mistaken you *can* accept payment in other forms so long as you hit the "Mark item as payment received" on eBay.

^^^ This. And why potentially remove a safety net for both him and the buyer just to save a couple hundred on what would have likely been a $6000 sale? I nominate this guy for an asshat of the month award. He was already beating the buyer up with the shipping cost.
  • Indeed, all this is going to do is to pissed off buyers so they will probably bid lower or maybe not at all.
  • I think the guy is legitimately an eBay newbie though.

Fuck man. I can see spending $5500 on Stadium Events, but when he tacks on the extra $0.30 that's totally a deal breaker for me. Does he expect cash or something? That doesn't really protect the buyer at all. That's what paypal does... It's all of $160 in fees oh no!

Not to mention he glossed over ebay's seperate fee of 10%, which would have been a much more significant $550.

The FFFAW manual is probably somewhere around $100 though?  Been awhile since I sold one but that's what I remember.

I could be wrong but I thought the manual was much more common than the box and not worth very much

  • This is pretty stupid on the sellers part. He already had $5500 with possible snips upping the sale price. Maybe he found the manual and wanted to relist it properly?
  • Another scenario is that it was a scam and he finally decided this wasn't a good idea.

    Capped at $250

This seller seems like he sucks.
  • ^ I could be wrong but I believe the 250 cap was raised to 750

    You're right.

Current eBay fee structure for the Video Games category is 10% of the final sale price, with a limit of $750. Then PayPal takes a 3% cut off the top as well.

Effective cut is 87% yours, 13% fees. Then you have to put up shipping as well.
  • Hello,

I am emailing all of you who placed a bid and letting you know that the listing for Stadium Events is going to be pulled and will be back up tonight 01/26/2015 by 7:30pm PST. I contacted EBay and they suggested that I let you all know that I am doing this. The reason for the pull is I have to put some stipulations to protect myself (the seller) and you (the bidder) and buyer (winning bidder). Just an FYI I will not be accepting PayPal as a form of payment, unless you agree to pay the 2.9% plus $0.30 USD fee on the total amount. I will already be lossing a large amount of money from Ebay fees. Any questions please feel free to contact me.

    Regards,

    Manny-

  • Hello everyone! Wow, I didn't think my little game would cause such a big stir, a few things...

    1. Yes, I pulled the listing and thought I sent all bidders a message (guess not). I was contacted by one of your fellow gamers and educated on the percentage I would lose after the auction ended (Ebay + PayPal fees are outrageous). I'm sure anyone with business sense and understanding of money would have done the same to rethink this.

    2. I am not a collector of games, but an owner.. The difference is im the original owner of every single Item I have and don't value my games as much as I do my Scotch collection, a true collector knows the difference and understands this statement, sadly most FAN boys can't comprehend this...

    3. My game is not fake nor was my listing fraudulent, I've always laughed at the 1st person to accuse an item as being fake or fraudulent, envy does cause jealousy, but its ok, cause im no hater     ...

    4. After many e-mails I did take my game to a collectors booth in Frank N Sons to have the game opened and cleaned. I was fortunate to met the owner of both 612 (Lex) and he cleaned and verified the game for me. I even sent the pictures with the current date and my IG name tag and board to those who requested it. Check out my IG Tru_collector to see the pictures.

    5. Sadly the book is gone, I cleaned out my old room about 3 years ago and vaguely remember throwing it away. I looked everywhere just to make sure but nope, no luck! "What the f@%$"?! some of you might say. Well like I said, games arnt my forte' Scotch, Cigars and women are.

    6. I don't suck nor am I an idiot or ass hat (asshole maybe, at least thats what one of the girls Im dating now calls me), but your more then welcome to meet me in Pasadena, Ca. at anytime to let me know that in person...

    7. Game history - My game was purchased for me when i was 10 by my grandmother (I was spoiled) from the Puente Hills Mall (When it was "The IT Mall"). Only a few game stores got them, and living a a predominately well off asian area in the 80's insured the area always had the "good stuff". When the pad came out I hated it, because it looked girly so i didn't really use it, and at the time it was all about Mario, Link and Samus, not running in place... So soon after it was stored in my room, then years later we moved and I went to live with my grandmother and alot of my stuff was put up in the closet to sit, after all why would you want to play with your nintendo when you had an N64 with better graphics etc... at least, that was my mind set as a kid. So present day, I decided to sell alot of my old things because it costs more to maintain them and I figured being a fellow 'collector" go see #5. I would put this up for someone else to appreciate. So, with that being said if anyone of you have a McAllan 50 laying around we can do an even trade!

    Regards friends,

    Manny-

    Any questions just ask!

Yes - game is still for sale. I was planing to put it up for sale here and donate to this site, after all, I rather money go to a site that promotes growth and provides a comunity for fellow collectors then the thieves at Ebay.
  • Welcome to the site Manny, and thanks for the clarification.

Unfortunately due to how many fraudulent attempted sales of this title we see, it has become a case of guilty until proven innocent.

    Good luck with the sale!
  • Yeah welcome to the boards, good to hear your story. I'm sure you'd find plenty of interest here, good luck with the sale!
  • I'm sorry, but am I the only one who thinks Manny sounds like a badass? That whole post is pimp.
  • Great story, I'm sure your much happier about your grandmothers gift now compared to when you were first playing with the "girly pad" lol
  • EDIT: Strange DP.

Claiming to maybe have the manual tucked away somewhere is an attempt to indicate that he is the original owner. His history shows that he sold a sealed dreamcast, meaning he is a collector (as if the reserve didn't already indicate this in some way). In summary it is unlikely that a modern day collector would have had a stadium events when released. As such he is likely to be hiding something. Since he appears to be a collector and most likely did not buy this upon release, he would have bought this more recently and probobly paid well, so how did he misplace it? The lock on this would be will he show the boards when requested? For someone selling something expecting to get thousands, I would expect that he would be willing to show the boards upon request.

Most "modern collectors," including myself, started as players way back then and have a lot of their old stuff around. The few people who got Stadium Events back then seemed to be in mail order clubs that sent new releases almost like record clubs. It makes sense in a way, since he would not have recognized the importance then.
