Real discs have the silver rings both inner and outer sides of the face.
  • Pics forthcoming...

I am going to say 100% COUNTERFEITS on all 3, both the discs and the cover art. I have over 50 demo's for CD-I and they all have the same identical layout, which just isn't consistent on the eBay items.

Notice on mine, the code #'s placement below the title. Now look at the eBay listing pics. It's certainly not aligned the same. I am 100% certain mine are not counterfeits so the eBay listing is sketchy on that level alone. ALSO, look closely at the cover art for the game cases. They have been cut with scissors and are simply color xerox's. Plus, the demo's didn't come w/ any artwork or casing originally. Thirdly, look at the placement of the Philips logo on mine vs. on the fakes. Lastly, you are right JaxsBox, there is a silver ring on the real demo's, where the eBay items are white.

Honestly, I originally overlooked all of this and immediately said legit because I thought you were questioning if such demo disks are real. But then I realized you knew that and were asking if they were fakes of the demo's. They pulled a fast one because I am a big CD-I guy and quickly assumed legit at first. So good eye on your part!

Cheap plug: I had these on hand because I was actually getting ready to sell them on eBay. If anyone wants to buy all of my CD-I demo's, PM me.
  • I have been burned by fake ones before. The easiest way for me to tell is look at the "Phillips Interactive Media of America" There are 2 horizontal white lines in the black box. On the real ones, those lines are sharp and solid. On the printed fakes, those lines are blurry and often not complete lines. The ebay ones look fake to me.
  • There are some old threads about this topic as well, with more pictures.

NOW THAT, is an expert lol.

    Very nice.

  • Seller issued a full refund not requiring a return. It is pending in PayPal but was issued. Hopefully he can get his money back because he was taken and sold on them being real.
  • Once I saw the cover art I suspected they were fakes. I've never seen these with cover art before. As mentioned above the printing also looks off.

Caught the tail end of the auction and had bid off my phone. Once they arrived it was obvious they were fakes. Once I mentioned it to the seller he claimed they were bought in a lot and issued a full refund. Seller also told me to keep them which struck me as odd.

I would have done the same thing if I had mistakenly sold someone a fake.  It's not doing anyone any good if it comes back to me
