What happened to Brother Nights?...

Jhawk used to do brother nights nes reviews.  He hasn't updated his youtube channel in a long time.

What happened to those guys?  One brother seemed more interested than the other.  One guy(dunno his name) always looked "whatever" about the whole deal....so maybe they had a fight and decided to stop making videos??

Anyone have any info?

Comments

  • He was on the other day, I made a comment about Brother Nights and he didn't respond to it. The show is on hiatus as far as I know.
  • In his sig it says they are on hiatus
  • I just asked him about this last week. He said his brother moved to Oregon and they just haven't coordinated a videochat review session.

I think they are waiting for him to come visit and they might do a few. But yeah, it's on hold.
  • Man, I miss that show.

I hope Trap is doing well at his new job.

I haven't seen Jered around these parts lately either and hopefully he is well too.

The Thanksgiving Episode where their Dad deep fried a turkey (and they reviewed Whomp-Em!) still fascinates me.

Never saw anyone deep fry one before, but heard they are amazing if cooked correctly.

Also loved that they'd leave (most) of their mistakes in too when editing. It made the show more sincere and endearing.

There theme song is great too.

I don't go over by my couch on Thursdays anymore.

  • Hey guys!

So yeah here's the deal. Trap took a job up in Oregon to start working at intel. His hope was to come down every couple months to film, but so far that just hasn't worked out.

We still talk about ideas, but until he's able to travel I'm not sure how we can realistically do it.

I started a new job around the same time. I'm still in Phoenix so nothing changed as far as my situation, but I started getting busy with the new job and just didn't get a chance to post here as much as I wanted to.

Things are calming down for me tho, so I'm back on more regularly.

Sorry I thought most people knew, I did post something when he first moved, but I should have followed up and just didn't. Sure nice to read all the comments tho, your guy's continued support is awesome!

Whether or not we can resume filming, it's nice to be back in this community!
  • Why don't you change it to Father Nights for the time being and get your dad to sit down and play some classics with you? I agree with Santa that your Whomp 'Em episode was a good one.
  • Was really starting to dig you guys before the hiatus. If and when we get new episodes, I'm there.

Hoky smokes Santa, I was about to say that this was the second saddest bit of news that I have heard all year, until I went ahead and saw that Jered posted! Now that's the best news I've heard all year
  • ^ Maybe you can start up Jerbilly Nights while we wait for BN to start back up.

You can review different types of hot dogs and the condiments that best accompany them.

    I would actually watch that.

Jerbilly needs to review Hot Dog Champ.  That would be awesome.

Man, if you haven't had deep fried turkey, it is a revelation in turkey flavor, you're missing out!  We've been doing it the last 2-3 years and I won't go back.  Here's a few tips:

-Buy a deep fry pot ($50) 2-3 jugs of PEANUT oil ($30 each) a few turkeys ($10ea on sale) and some LP gas

-Thaw the turkey fully! Avoid fires!

-Put the thawed bird in the pot and fill with water until the bird is almost fully submerged (2-3 inches poking out), this way you know exactly the amount of oil to use without overfill and more fires!

-Let bird dry and season.  We like a cajun rub with some injections in the meat (Ask Amanda for specifics)

-Bring oil to 300 degrees and lower the bird in SLOWLY to avoid boil over and fire!  You should have a nice boil once the heat recovers from the cold bird that splashes over the 2-3 inches of previously exposed bird, but DOESNT boil over the edge of the pot and catch your open flame on fire.

-cook 2.5-3 minutes per pound or roughly an hour per bird.  You can always cut into the thickest part of the bird to check doneness, and stick it back in if it needs more time.

-Enjoy!  Normally I don't eat skin, but people will fight over this crispy delight.  The first cut off the breast is my favorite. You should be able to cook 2-4 birds before the oil starts to brown and lose flavor.  Strain and freeze the left over oil for next year (or Christmas)!

Back on topic though, Brother Nights was the last internet gaming show I've went out of my way to watch since the AVGN days.  If it works out Jered, we'd love to see more.  Glad to see you around the boards

Damn Ken, if I do attempt to make one of these, I will notify the Fire Department First. My cooking skills top off at ice cubes and cereal.

Your description is making my mouth water though. I might risk it this year.

I agree with TENGEN too. A Jerbilly review show that does beer, old VHS movies and/or NES games would be awesome until Jered and Trap are re-united.

Ooooh, if you can handle it being in print form I may be able to help you out there!

Most of it comes from dipping frozen turkeys in 5 gals of boiling oil and causing a 6 foot flame cannon.  That mixed with being setup under a cookable porch = a real bad day.

There is some danger possible (check youtube), but you will be golden if you do it by the book.   If I can do this and it turn out excellent from the start, anyone can do it.

Also I would watch any Jerbilly production.  If you've seen his comics, you know the dude has an imagination.

This is the best post of 2017.

If anyone hasn't watched these guys yet, do yourself a favor and binge their first season.

Jared is a member here on NA - and although Trap and his first few episodes are a bit rough around the edges, they got it right after that.

SUPER Happy they are coming back on and can't wait to see what new games/beverages they are going to review this season.

    Theme song is great too!

I would add that the show gets better over time. Quality and presentation wise. First few episodes dont have the same "budget" lol
