Just keep your eye out for something suitable. There's tons of things you could "find", that you could mount to shelve your games (with a couple brackets from the hardware store). Or thrift stores have amazing different shelves other, less awesome, people use for tea cups, knick knacks, and various other collectibles. Save up some change and make an offer on a shelf that's been sitting in someone's store for years.

I see shelving units at the thirft store all the time for $10 - $20 and there's nothing wrong with them.
After lurking this post for a while, I've recently cleaned up my space for a family function so I'll toss my hat into the ring even though it doesn't compare to some of the other ones here . Took some pics because I've never posted any online before and my wife was shocked how clean my "mancave" was. I'm going to be finishing my basement this summer, so I stopped micro managing the shelves in the winter therefore some areas just have things tossed on. All of this has been solely picked up the last 6-7 years hitting garage sales with my kids in southern ontario over May-Sept months or selling/trading doubles for other pickups. I've been patient and tried to avoid ebay or stores where possible with family money so I'm missing some staples, but I'm sure I'll come across them in time. It also means like 90% of what I have I can tell you where it came from and probably a story behind it which is half the fun for me. My only exceptions are Wii U, Switch, PS4 and Xbox One, the kiosks were all picked up in the wild for trades or cash from selling off doubles.
I keep my new stuff separate until the fall so I can see how things are going for the year. The shelf on the left here are pickups since January from sales/trades that I needed and the 3 on the right are stuff I'm currently trying to get rid of locally/ebay. My back room has shelves of extra stuff I need to sell off but as most people can attest to laziness sets in and I usually end up selling just enough to break even for the year and after several years its accumulated to the point where my wife is threatening to trash it if I dont sell it off. This is a main goal for me this summer, selling off doubles means I can pickup more stuff!

Green game is Longest 5 Minutes. Hell yeah! I ordered that Owl Boy set, i haven't played the game yet cuz that set was delayed! looking forward to it! Most of my favorite games are the big titles of coarse, Odyssey, Mario + Rabbids, Breath of the Wild, tho Xenoblade 2 is my favorite Switch game so far. Ys VIII was great, just finished that 1. Also really liked Battle Chasers though i dont think you are a big rpg guy. Really like all the Nicalis releases. Just got Runner 3 and i love it! Isacc and Enter the Gungeon i played the hell out of. Tropical Freeze is an amazing platformer if you never played it. I'll just rattle off a couple others some downloads: Steamworld Dig 2, Flinthook, Rive, Golf Story, Blaster Master 0, Celeste, Mighty Gunvolt Burst, Blossom Tales, Wulverblade, Top Hunter, Garou Mark of the Wolves, Ikaruga, Dragon Blaze, and too many other dope shoot em ups to name! If you want a poor mans Mario 64 style game Poi is actually pretty fun! I beat it 100%, lol. Yonder looks cool, just picked that up but haven't played it yet.

Dragon Blaze is just a straight up hardcore shoot em up. I just like it and never played it till it dropped for Switch. Haven't gotten to Longest 5 Minutes so i couldnt say, lol, too many games to play! i just beat Battle Chasers and Ys VIII back to back and now I'm on Shining Resonance trying to slam through it so i can hopefully fire up Octopath Traveler this weekend! Haha.. yeah, didn't finish Blossom Tales but its pretty sweet! Ittle Dew 2 is a lot like that Zelda style as well.

Updated my shelving situation this weekend with the help of Quaze! Still got work to do and a whole other shelf to fill up to the far left of these but its coming together! also hit 1,400 games total so a cool milestone and new home for the collection!
