  • i'm out but watching image
  • but who is known to have this?
  • what is this??? never heard of this before
  • very rare ESP only game if i'm informed correctly

think Steven can tell you more about it image
  • did it have another name in the U.S. ... my guess it's a name change game ... let me know
  • Flight of the Intruder. It's just a name swap. This turned up 2 years ago iirc, JaJaJa is one of the few to own it CIB. He's the only one I can personally recall.

  • That's some pretty sweet box art.
  • man this is one of the nicest things i have seen, also probablly rarer than well nevermind...
  • wow, first time I have seen one of these for open auction in a LONG time. I can only remember 1 auction for this one, but I don't search Euro ebay that much image

    ~~NGD
  • Very cool! I'm not too big into the PAL stuff, but I have heard of this game and how rare it is. Also, the condition looks minty which is always a plus.
  • i know a handfull of people that have this game.. its pretty rare.. and its just the name swamp.. intresting how much it will go for..

you mean you're gonna bid? if so, you're really crazy. The game is quite rare, but it's not worth by far 250 euros...

p.d in spain, videogame magazines reviewed it using a copy/prototype of the us version because the title screen picture shows "flight of the intruder" instead of "phantom air mission" :S

I'm in agreement with piteta on this one, guys...how much did the last one sell for?  $150?  $200?  I don't recall it being more than $250.  But
  • ROFL at 250 Euro first bid. Come on guys. There's a Game Boy variant of this as well. I'd sell it for half this and laugh. Seriously.
  • Well Wilson do you have a NES Phantom Air Mission to sell? If so I'd gladly buy it! As it is since I've only ever seen 2 of these in my life I made the first bid of $351 US on it. I've been talking to a couple people on AIM who think this will fetch over $1,000 US... and I wouldn't be surprised... Shit there's only 1 or 2 known out there at least in colelctor's hands... think about it... Steven's Mahjong that was not even complete and probably would never be complete since I doubt you'd ever find a book for it was getting upwards of $500 US and he turned it down and there are 4 of those just with people on NA. So this one is one of what 2? 3? known out there... how can it only be worth $100-$200 as you are saying?
  • i don't think it will fetch over $1000 or anywhere near that for that matter. if it did i'd be very surprised. if you don't win for the opening bid then I'd say you overpaid, just my thoughts. good luck erik
  • Erik: You said "known" as if Nintendo Age collectors are the only people at count towards collecting. You and I both know that anything "hyped" on here gets bigger money than it should sometimes...

I never said it was worth $100-200, I said I would sell the Game Boy one for half the NES one and laugh about it.

THink about it, $1000? Someone is setting you up. It's a VARIANT of a released US game to things off. Why would this fetch more than Mr. Gimmick, Rodland, and Trolls in Crazyland? That's the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of.
  • i agree with qix. sorry erik! image good news is that i think you will be able to snag this one for cheaper than you hoped for!
  • HA... well there's one person on NA that already told me they were going to put in a snipe of $1,200 US so if I wanted it I'd better bid higher. And I know and trust that person VERY much. Now I will say that reading all the recent posts in this thread he might not do that anymore since alot of people are doubting the value of this one. I don't have a clue what Steven is willing to bid on it but considering he's outbid me on a few recent PAL items he'd probably go higher than me on this too.

In response to Wilson's comments. I knew you would take my post the wrong way... it wasn't directed at you it was directed at Piteta's and Mb####'s comments. I just started it by saying that if you had a NES one I'd buy it for sure. Which you are saying now that you don't have it. So the rest of the post was directed at them, not you. But since you replied I am happy to reply to you now. I completely agree that because this item was linked here it will say for WAYYYYYYYYYY more than it ever would have. In fact I know the guy who told me he'd bid $1,200 wouldn't probably have even seen it if it wasn't linked here. Again the $100-200 was in response to Matt not you. Lastly this IMO should sell more than Gimmick and Trolls, maybe not Rodland but the other two I don't have a problem with saying it would sell for higher. In fact I think that's the only thing you said I disagree with you on in your above statement. Trolls I got in Mint condition for $125 and they show up at least once a month. Gimmick shows up about 10 times a year CIB, granted some of those are the same copies turning over. Rodland shows up CIB maybe 1-4 times a year and due to the name and known scarcity I would think that would always sell for more. This one isn't even known about by I'd guess 85%+ of NES collectors. If it was and it was being looked for by more people the price would eventually go as high or higher than Rodland due to supply and demand alone. However... since I have only ever seen 2 of these... if this one brings a huge wad of cash, and it probably will since it is being linked here on NA, we'll see if it stirs up anymore copies from people not knowing what they had or not knowing that it was worth "that much" even though I agree it will no doubt be artificially inflated by the NA Effect.
  • Braveheart, I am just saying, it's a variant of a released game in the US...I don't see the point of why anyone would want/go nuts about it
  • ^ Dream, the same could be said about Stadium Events. It's just a variant of Track & Field, why would anyone go nuts about it? image

I understand both sides of the argument, and I guess time will just tell. I for one sort of agree with Dream because Rodland and Mr. Gimmick were PAL exclusives and should go for a premium amount. There is no NTSC counterpart. However, if a game is obscurely rare (like Stadium Events), it doesn't matter what it is a variant of... it will still command a good price if there are a bunch of collectors out there who "need" it.

I'm skeptical of 4 digits, but I'll just throw out a prediction of $600 to see how far off I wind up being.

World Class Track Meet maybe ?

  • OMG JONE U HAVE TO BE KIDDING,don't even compare the 2 bro i would chew my leg off for a MINTY CIB SE.
  • im going to put a snipe of 999.98 in there just so that eriks snipe of 1000 ends up winning and his prediction of 4 digits proves correct! image
  • jonebone: You mean World Class Track Meet.

I am talking about PAL to NTSC here. THe point I am trying to make is the valuable carts for PAL region are the Euro exclusives not released in NTSC format, but Phantom Air Mission suddenly trumps them?
  • For PAL collectors, it's not about playability, it's straight rarity. This and Snowboard Challenge are pretty much grails as far as a PAL complete CIB collection.

Popular inflation brings Rodland up to the level it's at; people who want the unique play experience in their toaster and also want a really rare game are willing to throw down.

But with these rare nameswaps, it only comes down to how many completionists are butting heads, and with SO few, and esp with this one in great shape, that's what the market does to an item.
  • Thank you Dan, I couldn't agree more.
