Humn... looks like Stephen and I have something to fight over again! I'll be in this battle.
you mean you're gonna bid? if so, you're really crazy. The game is quite rare, but it's not worth by far 250 euros...
p.d in spain, videogame magazines reviewed it using a copy/prototype of the us version because the title screen picture shows "flight of the intruder" instead of "phantom air mission" :S

I'm in agreement with piteta on this one, guys...how much did the last one sell for? $150? $200? I don't recall it being more than $250. But
I never said it was worth $100-200, I said I would sell the Game Boy one for half the NES one and laugh about it.
THink about it, $1000? Someone is setting you up. It's a VARIANT of a released US game to things off. Why would this fetch more than Mr. Gimmick, Rodland, and Trolls in Crazyland? That's the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of.
In response to Wilson's comments. I knew you would take my post the wrong way... it wasn't directed at you it was directed at Piteta's and Mb####'s comments. I just started it by saying that if you had a NES one I'd buy it for sure. Which you are saying now that you don't have it. So the rest of the post was directed at them, not you. But since you replied I am happy to reply to you now. I completely agree that because this item was linked here it will say for WAYYYYYYYYYY more than it ever would have. In fact I know the guy who told me he'd bid $1,200 wouldn't probably have even seen it if it wasn't linked here. Again the $100-200 was in response to Matt not you. Lastly this IMO should sell more than Gimmick and Trolls, maybe not Rodland but the other two I don't have a problem with saying it would sell for higher. In fact I think that's the only thing you said I disagree with you on in your above statement. Trolls I got in Mint condition for $125 and they show up at least once a month. Gimmick shows up about 10 times a year CIB, granted some of those are the same copies turning over. Rodland shows up CIB maybe 1-4 times a year and due to the name and known scarcity I would think that would always sell for more. This one isn't even known about by I'd guess 85%+ of NES collectors. If it was and it was being looked for by more people the price would eventually go as high or higher than Rodland due to supply and demand alone. However... since I have only ever seen 2 of these... if this one brings a huge wad of cash, and it probably will since it is being linked here on NA, we'll see if it stirs up anymore copies from people not knowing what they had or not knowing that it was worth "that much" even though I agree it will no doubt be artificially inflated by the NA Effect.
I understand both sides of the argument, and I guess time will just tell. I for one sort of agree with Dream because Rodland and Mr. Gimmick were PAL exclusives and should go for a premium amount. There is no NTSC counterpart. However, if a game is obscurely rare (like Stadium Events), it doesn't matter what it is a variant of... it will still command a good price if there are a bunch of collectors out there who "need" it.
I'm skeptical of 4 digits, but I'll just throw out a prediction of $600 to see how far off I wind up being.
^ Dream, the same could be said about Stadium Events. It's just a variant of Track & Field, why would anyone go nuts about it?
World Class Track Meet maybe ?
I am talking about PAL to NTSC here. THe point I am trying to make is the valuable carts for PAL region are the Euro exclusives not released in NTSC format, but Phantom Air Mission suddenly trumps them?
Popular inflation brings Rodland up to the level it's at; people who want the unique play experience in their toaster and also want a really rare game are willing to throw down.
But with these rare nameswaps, it only comes down to how many completionists are butting heads, and with SO few, and esp with this one in great shape, that's what the market does to an item.
