Civil War in 2010 what country will you live in then?

Yes some Russian has predicted the dollar will fail in 2010 and the country soon after. The US will be broken up into 6 parts. I'll be a Canadian !

At least shipping to Canada won't be so scary then.

  • That sounds like fear-mongering BS to me... but just in case, I'll just stay here in Canada, thank you. =)
  • Looks like I'd live in part of China...
  • I'll keep my ass down in australia - plenty of bush and woodlands to hide in!
  • Well according to the article, TN will be part of the Atlantic America, but I highly doubt that, if this country went to Civil War, the South would form its own country, and not be part of Mexico.. I'm sure Tennessee would not follow a bunch of people from New England..
  • I'm undecided whether this country will go to war. However, whoever put that together is a complete idiot, if a war is to develop it will not be sections of the country fighting each other like a game of Risk. It would be the poor / homeless people banding together to overthrow our corrupt Government and big businesses. It would be a unified effort.

And I think the average lifespan of a democracy is roughly 200 years... aren't we about there now? Rome fell from world's most powerful nation to a tiny city almost overnight and history has a tendency of repeating itself...

    EDIT:

It is also much more likely for other countries like China to attack us when we default on our debt.  It is a matter of time at this point....

I.e. when you are trillion of dollars in debt, other countries like China buy up our debt with a minimal rate.  I.e. China gives us a trillion dollars and puts some interest rate on it knowing that we'll make the payments.  When the country declares bankruptcy and zeros our debt, China will not be happy.  Anyone else who bought up our debt would be in the same boat and band together to attack us.

^ - That is much more real than anything that Russian professor can put together.
  • PS - That guy is just mad because the Soviet Union fell apart into a bunch of countries. Soviet Union is NOT America and is no where close to even being a credible example.

  • I have to agree with some of jonebone's perspective.I think it's going to be a revolution more than a civil war. It's going to be people vs. the government.I've actually been thinking that this could happen for a while and to be honest I think it "needs" to happen. Our government is nothing like what it was founded as.There needs to be a change and unfortunetly it won't come peacefully. If the shit does hit the fan though i'm not going anywhere, hell I'll probably be in it.
  • The guy who put this thing together doesn't realize the difference between the USSR and the USA is that we are ALL Americans, whereas they broke up because they were all separate groups oppressed by "mother" Russia.

If we broke up we would still retain a loose confederacy, and I doubt the rest of the world would be in good enough shape to take over anything.
  • I enjoy reading articles like this with the benefit of hindsight. Let's read it again two years from today and then compare reality to the prediction. Although I have not studied the situation in the same detail, my prediction is that the United States of December 29, 2010 will look very much the same as December 29, 2008 (50 states, no foreign influence, no civil war, etc.). It appears that the one thing that Igor Panarin failed to take into account is that America is and will continue to be the greatest country on earth.
  • Arch (or anyone else willing to discuss this topic), what do you think about our debt? We're currently at 10 trillion dollars of debt, on pace for 11 in first quarter 09. Just as with any bubble market, this will have to burst soon with the U.S. defaulting (and screwing over many citizens and a lot of countries) or printing off lots and lots of money (which would destroy the dollar). Either scenario is VERY, VERY, VERY BAD. You'd actually need about 100 more "verys" to capture the magnitude of this as no amount of words can prepare anyone for the massive knock-out blow coming.

Interesting note since most people do not understand what a trillion dollars means:

If you stacked 1,000,000 dollar bills on top of each other, that would translate into 358.33 feet (.0043 inches per bill x 1,000,000 = 4300 / 12 = 358.33 feet). That means one billion dollars would be 35,833.33 feet and one trillion would be 3,583,333.33 feet.

Multiply by 11 and that's still a number too large to comprehend. Let's convert to miles:

39,416,666.63 feet converted to miles = 7465.27 miles.

That means we could line up dollars bills from the East Coast to the West Coast and back, and then some more to count our debt. Not to mention that the debt is increasing FASTER THAN IT EVER HAS BEFORE. But oh well, Obama will hopefully save us all right image

  • Hey Canadians lets start buying up all the NES games now, so that we all know they will be safe in a stable country and not not lost in war torn America.

But then again we only have a couple of years after that before this: http://www.december212012.com/

Jonas - even with the recent increases our debt to GDP ratio is considerably smaller than most other developed countries (Japan, and most of Europe). The likelihood of the EU breaking down is MUCH higher than that of the USA falling apart from monetary policy. Last I checked there is already rioting in the streets in some places around Europe due to bank closures.

I think the guy that came up with this goofy 2010 prediction is just upset that Russia is close to collapse, yet again, and in fact is on the brink of its own civil war.
  • well sure, its just plain goofy and therefore funny. He obviously doesn't understand the US very well, no way in hell is there a civil war anytime soon. And if there was, to suggest washington state would join china? WTF??
  • I cant ever see a civil war in this country like stated. but the poor rising up has possibilities
  • Im not even going to read the article, after hearing some of the comments here.. this is just goofy as hell. I also belive that it would be a revolution before a civil war. I agree with the person who said people would be upset because the country is not running the way it was originally set up to. But I question what that means, and which side would be the one causing the revolution. There are two political sides in this country that both claim the country is not running as our forefathers had laid down, but they are both saying the country started and was supposed to run in opposite ways. Both sides have their proof too.

I personally think if something happened soon, it would be a class war, not a political war. People are angry with corporations. Corporations are not backing down at all, or showing remorse for the state of things. They are clinging to power like dictaors, and showing of their might in these dire times, with their private jets and such. They pretty much laugh in the face of the government, when the government questions them on these obsurd displays. Then the government bails them out. I think if things got worse (alot worse) there could be roits, assasinations, and linching of executives, in which the governement would of course try to protect. The people would revolt against the government siding with corporations. There would be no civil war. The people are too united, and mixed together. The country wouldnt divide up, but it may try to overthrow the government. This would be a very very extreme event, I doubt it would ever occur.. but its certainly more rational then civil war. Thats just not americans.. theres no way in this day and age, a Floridian is going to say "F U Michigan!! This is war!!"

On second thought.. You jerks from Michigan drive like asses.. so if it comes down to it.. bring it on you panzys! Your more Canadian then American anyway.. shuve your "dont ya knows" where the sun dont shine!
  • LOL. That's ridiculous. There's something foreigners need to understand about people in the U.S. America is like one big dysfunctional family. We may fight an hate each other 99% of the time, but when someone messes with us they mess with all of us. And don't think our government is a quantifiable representation of the people. We like seeing them get kicked in the balls as much as the rest of the world, (if not more so).
  • Well, not that I want it to happen, but I predict someone will come in and destroy america... with peace.

    ponder that.
  • ^^^ Not until the Second Coming of Christ.

  • i would go too mexico..................
  • too? whos going with you? im taking the alamo, and declairing it a micro nation
  • you know this does seem a little out there. but could the US actually give china califorina and a few others for payment in lue of the 7 trillion dollar debt ... makes you wonder
  • Well the only thing bigger than my my NES collection is my Gun Collection and I have been stockpiling Ammo and componets for the last 5 years or so. If you look in the background of my avatar you can see one of my reloaders. Ive got water and food rations along with a generator and a plan if it comes to it. So I have been thinking about the possibilites for a few years about a revolution of sorts. Im ready to go back to small town america. Down with the Big corporations that dodge their tax responsibility like mario jumping a cannon shot!
  • ^^^^^Don't you think it would be more wise to have a water filtration system rather than a giant stockpile of water?
  • def. a great idea Gavmasterflash
  • Yeah, I would also get some chickens so you can have eggs (of course with a male rooster or two so you can keep making more chickens) and a bunch of seeds of various vegetables. That's what I would do about survival. But the canned food would be a good start, shit, I'd love to eat nothing but corned beef hash for a while. And just wondering, is the generator so you can hook up your NES system after there is no longer any power?

BTW, if there is a civil war in 2010, I will still be in Korea by then. If things are bad back home, I'll stay my ass in South Korea, unless the Northern Koreans wanna start shit, then I'm on the first plane, or boat outta there.
  • Ducks are better than chickens for eggs, since you won't need to have a rooster to maintain the proper social order.
  • I got property with a spring, plenty of nut trees, squirrels, rabbits , deer. so im ready lol
  • ^^^^Yes but do you have a cache of guns and ammo to protect it from hippies and other freeloaders?
