The black dude is me... The asian guy is Gunpei Yokoi ... Take a look:
damn, you got your own personal camera man and everything... you have a bunch of cool videos on your youtube page!
Thanks ! lol - that personal camera man is one of my gaming buddies I begged him to film that for me. I had to document the man who ressurrected the gaming industry in the West.
very cool, I actually remember seeing MicroMachines being sold on a home shopping network show (not sure if it was this one or QVC or something else) back in the day. I am sure it wasn't this clip though. Good stuff, brings back memories.
Yeah man you have some of the best videos on YT. Its videos like these that make YT great. Stuff people just recorded back in the day on an old VCR. Thanks for the videos!
Hehe that brings back memories. The people at Home Shopping Network were pretty awesome, for the most part. It was easy endorsing Micro Machines, it was actually a really good game.
Ironically, Micro Machines also had a special meaning for me. On March 4th, 1989, my house burned completely down at around 4 in the morning due to a wiring defect in the garage. 4 days later, my mother had a rare heart attack caused by an arrhythmia known as ventricular tachycardia. It nearly killed her (took some time for the EMT's to get a pulse again), and it was many many months before she was able to be even taken home from the hospital, having suffered severe stroke-like damage due to oxygen deprivation to her brain. We didn't have insurance for the house, so all we had were what we were given by churches and friends. So I had a few clothes, and a little cigar case with about 30 micro machines They were my only toys.
Flash forward a couple of years, and I got the chance to endorse the video game Pretty cool. The Camerica folks, and CodeMasters in particular were people that I really liked, but the games moving beyond Micro Machines were just not up to par with the Konami/Capcom stuff, let alone Nintendo's own titles. But I stand by Micro Machines to this day.
The kid next to me had no idea what he was doing, I was trying my best to keep his car on the screen for the most part.
Oh and Tampa / St. Petersburg Florida, where the HSN campus was, was a very nice place to be. Great beaches, smooth white sand, and lots of arcades and vacation-oriented stuff to do.
Thanks for the post! (oh, and just as the quotes for everything beyond Micro Machines were manufactured by the Camerica executives and not me personally, so was the claim that I had played every NES game. During '91-'92 I probably finished a few hundred titles, but I was far from completing, or even playing ALL of the NES games out there.

Good to hear from you,Thor. I'm glad things worked out for you leading up to the endorsements. That's been people's dreams as gamers . Say if you ever need a hard copy of the HSC clip. You're more than welcome to get one from me - free of charge. Lemme know...
Yeah man you have some of the best videos on YT. Its videos like these that make YT great. Stuff people just recorded back in the day on an old VCR. Thanks for the videos!
Thanks Custom. Speaking of which...Those Nintendo mods of yours are priceless !
What a cool little video, Thor, you're just playing and laughing with that little kid on TV, having a grand old time. They got a bargain, whatever they paid you.
it looks like you had fun, but i know how damn frustrating it can be to keep your own car on the screen, let alone the car of your incompetent opponent
ps.. the PS1 version of micromachines (v3) kicks ass aswel
