Japanese Pochinco Machine

Hey guys. My girlfriends dad knows I like video games and said he had an arcade game in storage. I figured he meant a tabletop coleco game or something but then he comes up with this item.

From what I can tell it's a Japanese Pochinco machine. I have found a wide variety of designs and prices for these. I was wondering if anyone can identify and give me a value for this thing. It needs some work but seems like a project I'd enjoy. I may end up keeping it but I'd like to know the value of a restored one. Thank.

EDIT: will upload pics better on my computer when I get home. Obviously I screwed it up from my phone. There is at least one pic of the front

  • I have a friend who's gotten three or four in pretty good shape and they work. I met a dude who had one to sell and he wanted $75 for it. My friend said that was too much.
  • I've seen them sell for between $25 and $50 for generic old ones. Newer ones with known themes sell for more.
  • Nice piece. The gf's dad is giving it to you because he knows you like videogames and thinks you would appreciate it. This is the stuff that I would just keep for my own collection, instead of selling. Why does it need to be about the money, sir?

    agreed.

sounds like it needs work anyway, which can be a tall order depending on the particular machine. Just like pinball, it can be a non-trivial set of repairs for anything with moving parts and primitive electronics.

I had the change to pick up a very fancy antique pachinko machine for $50 a few years back that needed work, and this was at an antiques store. I saw the wiring in the back and immediately walked away. If there was some familial tie to it, my opinion surely would have changed.

  • I will definitely be keeping this. The reason I want the value is because he wants some money for it. He seems to think it's worth a hundred bucks or so but he said he knows nothing abt it and wants me to look into it and make him a fair offer. I'm thinking of giving him 30 bucks for it and then fixing it up

With it needing work I personally wouldn't pay too much more than that for it. Its just a generic old style version.
  • Thanks for all the info guys. I'll see if he'll take 30 bucks for it. Seems like a cool project and piece for my garage
