Super Metroid standee

So I found this at a yard sale for a great price ($5). It's got a little damage on the "She's back" part and it's missing the 24 meg part as well. Other than that, it's in good condition. The tabs are intact and it fits together nicely. If the guy I bought it from can find the missing part, so much the better.

So here's my problem. I need to sell it. There's a video game convention happening soon near where I live and I'd like to take a flyer or something there. I really don't want to ship it (shipping is what I do as a job) because boxing this thing up would be a nightmare.

I've done some research and this standee doesn't pop up all that often on the internet. I've seen $100 to $300 ebay auctions, and even one from a crazy guy in Michigan for $2000. I can post additional pictures proving I am a real person and not some ass looking for attention. I just have no idea what this thing is worth and I don't want to get ripped off.

Thanks in advance.

  • To get the most out of it, you'll have to ship it. Locally, I would expect to get half of what it's worth, if that. I think closer to $300 than $100. I've seen a few on ebay, but I can't remember what they commanded.
  • It was shipped to the store it was displayed in back in the day. If it folds I'm half you can probably ship it for less than $25 and it would be easier than you think. Definitely worth it for the extra loot you'd get selling online.
  • I've wanted that stand for a long while. What part of the country are you in?
  • I would say even $250 might be reasonable locally. It's quite the piece and I don't think these show up for sale overly often. Plus the fact it's Metroid makes it all the better.
  • Near Philadelphia. The convention is Too Many Games.
  • If you'd ship it you can probably pull $500-$600. But selling local only, no idea. Standees aren't exactly hot sellers, but when you do find the right buyer, they usually pay pretty well on the rarer / most sought after ones. And this is one of those.
  • Ok, after all the advice I'm posting it on Ebay. Thanks guys.

Please excuse us Michigan folk. The idiots here outnumber the intelligent. Our gaming resources have all dried up thanks to the local douches that think Nintendos are going to put their kids through college.
  • To the comment above (summing up your point Adam):

I live in a suburb about 15 minutes west of Detroit.  The other day I was trying to make a deal over Craigslist with this guy who lives 20 minutes east of me.  I negotiated a number of $200 with him for a very decent N64 lot as well as a gameboy pocket w/ pokemon blue.  I then asked if he had anything else, he said he had an "8-bit NES with games".  No chase titles, just some marios and other common stuff.  I asked what he would take if he added that in.  He didn't reply for half the day, and then told me he looked up what everything was worth.  I said "yes I know the value, and I could pay $300 for everything" (I wouldn't have usually increased $100 just for the NES stuff, but I didn't want to let the rest of the escape).  He actually LAUGHED at me (via text, of course) and told me it was close to double that now, or $420 without the NES.  This price was slightly above what the selling value would be on ebay, let alone with all the fees.

Needless to say, I sent a text saying "lol okay good luck sir" and haven't heard anything else. XD
