What's everyone's best scores so far? Favorites stages and weapons? Highest Streak?
My best overall performance is 1358, 9-0 on Saltspray. Also have a couple in the 1400s on skatepark with a few less kills.
Usually stick to Splattershot Jr. w/bubbler and AeroSpray w/inkstrike.
I've gotten to +10 winning streak twice before losing.
I think Saltspray is my favorite since it's so large with a lot of different ways to play it.
Still getting used to Ranked Battles (at C), I'll probably focus on those today.
My highest score was between 1100-1200 . Had 11 kills and 4 deaths on that one I think. But I had a roller and getting that many kills with a roller is difficult. Really easy to die as a roller.
Favorite weapon is right now the second roller. I like the NES 85 zapper and the custom splattershot jr I unlocked.
favorite stage (cant remember the exact name) That oil rig looking one. Least favorite stage is the skate park. Since I used the roller all those ramps you can run up are annoying. When I see it in the rotation I usually pick the zapper or splattershot jr custom.
I had no clue what I was doing last night on ranked battle. Probably cost my team all 3 games I played on it. I dont know if I like ranked battles. Im not good at the strategic positioning and bombs and shit yet
Yeah, it's pretty easy to take down rollers, but good ones can be tricky. I'm not having much fun with ranked battles on any map besides the rig. It really requires teamwork and would certainly benefit from communication.
I'm sticking mostly to turf until I hit level 20 (at 17 now), then taking a break until the new maps come.
Had some good matches today, shortly after this I went 10-1 and my score was around 1150. Not bad for being so much lower level than everyone. Rollers are pretty easy, we won a match something like 70% - 16% and I killed the same roller kid over and over. We pretty much spawn camped them we had them pinned back in their own base.
Lots of fun, even when you lose, theres at least one moment in the game thats fun. Had a bad stretch, but I landed a bomb right on a kid's head and killed him, I smiled for a good 10mins after that one.
I like the Krak-On roller, Aerospray, and .52 gal, though I'm not crazy about the splash wall sub weapon. I'm pretty terrible with the charger weapons so I generally avoid those altogether. Even so, I found myself spending over an hour on the final Inkling Girl amiibo challenge...kept dying in stupid ways or at the last moment. Finally got it, all for a weapon I'll probably never use, lol.
Not sure what my highest scores or streaks have been, but I've gotten around 1200 in one match before I think, and like a 7-0 streak maybe? Still have yet to play ranked matches, got sidetracked with SP and amiibo challenges. They sound kinda tough but I'm interested in trying them out.
I won a few ranked battles today. Sometimes you get the worst teammates that cant take out anything and just go to the lesser occupied zone and camp then get killed.
My greatest achievment was leading the team to victory 3 on 4 in a ranked battle. Soneone disconnected pre match.
I cant be a roller in ranked battles. I go with splat jr custom gun.
In regular battles i went strictly with a gun tonight and wrecked shop today. Like 4 matches in a row 900-1180 leading the team to victory. Felt good getting better at the game.
Its all about the sub weapons sometimes. People use weapons specifically for the sub weapon. The elite sub weapon users are the most annoying to face. Pesky as shit
So... Splatoon. I played it last night. Anything I've read about this game could not prepare me for the awesomeness this game provides. I could not stop playing til 3 in the morning. It definitely has that "okay just ONE more round" factor that Mario Kart and Smash Bros both have as well. I can't wait to get into ranked battles. I'm only level 4 and I only played 5 campaign stages but my god this game FAR exceeds any expectations I had. Seriously, great job Nintendo.
Apparently I'm a filthy liar. I'm TerrHeel on the Wii U. I think TerrHeel527 is my Playstation ID. Anyway, I just added you, Jeff. Anyone else feel free to add me under TerrHeel if you want to play.
In the turf wars between match screen, anyone know what that meter with green squids means? It says "Chill" i think if you have one squid . . . .
EDIT: Sniped!
That's your win streak meter, it goes up by one if your team wins a match and down if you lose. The higher you go it changes from "chill" to "so hawt".
My NNID is EVOXPISCES in case anyone wants to add me. I can't guarantee I'll be able to connect to the internet all the time but I hope to be playing for a few hours a night. I'll try and add people from here.
Put in a few hours last night. Yeah, this game is amazing. Never been huge into online play, but definitely enjoying this. Played a bit of the single player campaign to get a grasp on the controls and then it was online only. Made it to Level 5 and just got the Zap 85 before I had to go to bed. See myself putting a ton of hours into this one.

Yeah it's funny I almost never play online with any game - Mario Kart sometimes - and I'm really not into shooters either, but this game is more addicting than Tetris.
I was looking online for the Amiibos (might actually have to buy them...) and I found this:

This question was answered already but just FYI, once per map rotation you can talk to Judd and he'll give you some bonus coins based on your current streak. The higher your rating, the more coins he gives you, though it's not a really huge amount, especially if you're only on Chill, which only gets you like 100, but it's something.
I heard if you get the same gear ability more than once in a single gear, it doesn't do any extra. Any truth to this?
It has diminishing returns, but it does add to the total (according to Judd). If you had 2 defense abilities you'll be stronger, but 3 isn't much more.
August update will fix all of that. Better matchmaking, new maps, new modes, etc.
I am so fking sick of buying half finished games at release...
Back in the day a companys reputation rested on the quality of the games they put out. Nowadays we just pay 60$ to wait for the patch... We should demand more from our media...
Yeah, this is definitely my biggest issue with Splatoon. It's a lot of fun, but I don't get why Nintendo released it when a good chunk of the game won't be out for a few months. It bumped it down from a 4/5 to a 3/5 for me, and I hope this doesn't become a recurring practice. Is it just me or does anyone else think gaming needs a kick into drive, like the kind movies got during the New Hollywood era?

It does bug me a little, but I've put in over 20 hrs so far (more than I did with each of the Mario games), and it's been well worth the money. If they'd held off releasing the game it wouldn't be an issue, but honestly it's kind of nice. I put in over 20 hrs at launch, have my honeymoon period where I can experience everything to it's fullest, then in a couple months I get to have it all over again and I don't need to relearn the game.
If the game launched with less than 10hrs worth of replayability yeah I'd be pissed, but there's enough to be happy with. Since this is the first and probably only Nintendo game to do this (because it's multiplayer focused), it's not a trend yet.
I'd be more concerned with games like The Order which was 6 hrs total with zero replayability and pretty lackluster to start with, or AC Unity/Halo Collection that were broken at release and even months into release.

Good luck on the challenges.
With an Amiibo you can unlock games while in the loby. Great stuff.
