Goldeneye N64 - 00 Agent Hardest/Most Annoying Level?
Holy cow/crap/pick a noun.
Maybe it's the beginning, where you have to select the magnet watch attract, open the door, hand slap the guy and then start, it's tedious and makes repeated playthoughs monotonous.
Doing the level over and over it really isn't that hard, you just need patience and accuracy.
Finishing the Silo level was also a huge SOB because of the time limit.
I completed the game on 00 Agent in college and I'm slowly progressing through it one level at a time. I don't remember the Jungle or even Aztec being as frustrating as Bunker ii or Silo on 00 Agent.
What does NA think?

I hate the Caverns on every difficulty as well.
Having said that, Facility on 00 Agent is the hardest cheat to unlock in the game, IMO. By far. Though nowadays you can just study a Youtube video for a strategy, still a lot of luck involved and you have to be fast.
In terms of just beating the level at your own pace? Probably Control. It's a "long" level in the game and it requires quick reflexes due to the random patterns of enemies. Back in the day of no mid level checkpoints, dying at the infinite guard part was extremely frustrating.
Control is a bitch for sure. It's all about the defense of Natalya, the rest is a cakewalk compared to Bunker ii/Silo.

You actually did this? I tried so many times....what is it? Finish the level in 2:01? Wild.
I used to watch Youtube videos of it and try to replicate what they were doing to no success.

I think you have to get lucky and find Dr. Doak immediately.

Yeah I did it back in 1998 or whatever year it came out, pre-internet videos. I actually used to speed run and was one of the founding fathers of the Perfect Dark elite... which then evolved to the Goldeneye Elite as well (I know that sounds backwards).
I had internet when PD came out so that's when we started using Polaroids as proof of our times. I lasted that summer before moving on to other things. Nowadays the times are INSANE and there is full video proof of everything. I had another fleeting interest in speed running back in 2007 when I came back and got a 0:54 on Dam Agent (WR is 0:53), but it took way too long and I know I don't have the patience or skill to do that any more.
These are all of the GE World Records, with videos of each. The WR on 00 Facility is 0:52 now (!!!!!), so that 2:05 target time should be easy to beat

It was hard to find people to play with me. Headshot, before it was cool.
And the Facility cheat... good christ. I remember finally getting it by like 10 seconds through sheer luck
Just watched the speedrun video - so you don't actually have to even bring Natalya out?

I can't play the video at work, but some speedrunning strategies find "flaws" in the design to optimize the time. In that case it may just require Natalya getting free or to a certain point, instead of waiting her to get outside.
Best example is Level One in Perfect Dark. I remember back in 2000 when someone first discovered the freefall glitch. There's a way to fall off the helipad and glitch through the wall, landing in the very elevator at the bottom and beating the level. WR on that is 0:05!
The hardest scenario for me was Aztec and it still is.
I beat the game again in 00 Agent mode in late 2013.
I'm not good enough to unlock all the cheats, but I really enjoy the gameplay.
Definitely with Jone on Facility. Doak spawn could fuck up a flawless run over and over by spawning his ass in the wrong places.

If Doak was in that side area where the doors take forever to open because they can't be opened at the same time right when you enter the science levels, you might as well just start over. The only way I was able to even get close was if Doak spawned in those labs right before the bottling room.
It didn't take me a year, like this necro bump would imply, but it certainly took 20+ tries over a few days.
Onwards and upwards. Caverns here I come.
(Everyone play more Goldeneye, this game is awesome)
Toughest stage to unlock the cheat was the facility. Favorite stage as well. I attempted it again a couple years ago, and it took a few tries, but I did beat it. Not fast enough to get the cheat, but beat it none the less.
I always found the train cheat the hardest when I was a kid. I remember the depot being a little tricky, too. Facility wasn't too bad once you had a good strat. I could do it most of the time unless Doak was way off in that other room. All other locations I could typically get 'er done if I didn't get really bad luck.
Bunker 2. I was just talking about this in another thread yesterday. Hate this level on 00 Agent. I lose half my health before getting a gun.
Beat me to it.
Also, holy hell jonebone!
