Panasonic Q complete with original box, inserts, accessories.

Hey guys, so a while back I bought a Panasonic Q from a guy. It included the console, all original cords, the original controller and the original DVD remote.

Yesterday, by some miracle, I had a guy bring into my store JUST the box with all styrofoam and inserts. Completed my console! I'm curious now what it could realistically go for. It seems extremely rare, as the only complete listings I see now, or recently, are out of Germany or Japan and always have some interesting caveats about not working, missing parts, being a PAL console, or something of that sort.

This is a Japanese/American version of the console. It can load and play both regions. Holding the power button down for 5 seconds on start up alternates it between English and Japanese.. very cool.

Anyway, any ideas what it might go for at auction?

Comments

  • $300? That's purely opinion and not verified by fact, but that's the number of that popped into my head.
  • I'm thinking more around the $500 range
  • Depends on the condition of the console. If there are a lot of scratches on the chrome, it will go for less. Box is pretty rough as well. I would say $400-$450

$500? USD? I don't know where on Earth you're pulling that figure from, but I see these routinely sell for no more than 30,000 yen complete...
  • Thats funny because I just sold a panasonic q box you scored big time.
  • I've seen 2 complete go localy for around 350$ in the past 3 years
  • There is a lot of confusion on the topic. This is largely due to the fact that a lot of Panasonic Q's were never meant to leave Japan so they were not modded for North American support. Before a Q was sent to the states, the distributor needed to install the mod themselves (some have the option with the holding down of the button, others have a very inconvenient switch on the bottom) and include an import voltage sheet verifying that it was safe to plug into a US outlet. There are SIGNIFICANTLY fewer multi region Q's out there. Also, it's cool that you got the box seperately, but if it's missing the "USA/JP" region sticker on the top, that will hurt the value to an informed potential buyer.

To everybody quoting eBay prices: 80% of the Q's sold on eBay from Japan are broken and none of them are multi region. Read the descriptions.

All this said, as a complete in box multi region Panny Q console owner, I wouldn't sell mine for a dime under $550.

edit: Just wanted to add that the button mod was done by a specific importer that also included an English overlay for the remote control. Not having this will also hurt the total value.

edt 2: The last 3 US sales on eBay: Console and remote control only $405 at auction, Console, controller, and remote control only $466 at auction, shitty condition with controller only BIN $450.

I think it's safe to say that a complete in box Q is worth closer to $600 right now.

Awesome info. Not to derail the thread or anything, but I've been wanting one of these for a while, and I appreciate the knowledge; definitely didn't know all that, and good to get a more accurate estimation.
