Help with eBay seller

I bought this Eprom eraser:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/EPROM-ERASER-DATARASE-II-/291486636426?

I paid for immediately after winning the auction. Today I come home and I have a refund on PayPal with the following message:

I am sorry but I do not accept the 11.00 bid. I will accept 16+10 for shipping and will wait 3 days for you to modify your offer. Thanks for trying. Hope you find what you are looking for.

He also relisted the item here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/EPROM-ERASER-DATARASE-II/291493085427?_trksid=p5411.c100167.m2940&_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIC.MBE&ao=1&asc=20140131123730&meid=88b7fbe21a9444a19eb2472c5434f5e4&pid=100167&rk=1&rkt=13&sd=291486636426

I reported the listing as fraudulent (wouldn't let me do duplicate listing) and sent the seller a message why resending payment for the item. I need an eprom eraser in the next week, and I took a chance on this one. Is there anything else I should do to ensure I get my item?

Thanks

  • Look at his feedback, you're not gonna get your item. Email or call ebay to report your issue so they finally can his ass.

Yeah he recently screwed someone else over as well. If I wanted to go the full 9 yards and take this to the fullest extent with eBay what are my options?
  • You won't get it. Give him a negative and forget about it. Eventually his feedback will catch up with him and ebay will boot him.

Well, if anyone wants to report the new auction just to mess with him go for it. But I guess I need to find a new eraser. Anyone have any suggestions for a reliable eraser?

  • Yeah and if you look at his positive comments they all seem to be from buying from ebay not selling.
  • neg him now!

Should I? I repaid for the item (once I saw it wasn't paid for I repaid for the item... then twenty min later the second ad popped up). So now he has my money again.

Also - what is a relatively inexpensive and reliable eprom eraser.. if anyone knows?

  • His defect ratio will catch up to him but refusing to ship and relist is a violation of ebay terms. Give ebay a call and he will be suspended.

umm yeah he is not honoring his end of the deal.

What I meant is, how do I go about getting my refund before negging and then calling eBay?

  • I sent him a message and encourage others to do the same

"Why would you cancel an auction and relist the item. You know this won't just go away. I'd suggest closing your ebay account now and starting over when you have more integrity."

    file a ebay case

  • Since he has your money now let him know he must send it and can not back out. Call ebay NOW so they can look over the message before he has a chance to act. Seriously, get on the phone with them NOW. You risk losing your money.
  • file the case first. Ebay will refund you when it's all over. Seriously, call ebay.
  • Since I just paid for the item the options in the Resolution Center keep telling me I have to wait a few days or contact the seller (who is unresponsive). I called eBay and they said he already refunded me so there isn't anything they can do. I told them I repaid for the item but they said I need to wait 48 hours before I can get the money back. On top of that they didn't do anything about his second ad for the item.
  • eh I just use my sonicare toothbrush stand which has a UV light to erase the few eproms I need to erase. Works just fine and I had it lying around.
  • I've been on the phone with eBay for over an hour. They won't remove his ad nor will they refund my money. They said it's all up to the seller and they have "no power" in these instances. I don't get it.. it this really how eBay customer service works?
  • Success!! PayPal contacted the merchant and he notified them that he would refund the money by tomorrow morning (or if I am willing to pay $5 more he would send the item). I will take the refund and I already found another eprom eraser with a seller in the US who has 100% feedback!
  • Now contact ebay again and let them know that

    1- he wanted more money

2- would have avoided ebay fees by getting it from Paypal directly

Both are violations of the rules.

Before they were waiting to give the seller a chance to ship the item. Now that he's gone on record that he still refuses payment you can get him canned.
  • Also, if everyone would visit the relist, then report it as "avoiding ebay fees" and "requiring payment surcharges"
  • You really think that'll work? I'll call in the morning regardless but they seemed pretty useless so far

I am not entirely sure but I would go with mkiker's advice. After your experience, it would be a shame to not do anything about it.

  • Seller is a bag. Why would you start an auction for less than you are willing to accept. Everyone knows the risk you take with low starting bids. Dumb

I could never understand this. I mean, I have never sold on ebay, but am I missing something? Why would anyone ever not just start with the lowest amount that they are willing to take? It is incredibly silly.

I'm sure many have done the .99 listing and got burned by it (I know I have). I just realized I was a dumb ass for making that choice, and went ahead with my obligation to sell. Seller should be booted from ebay if they won't comply with the terms. Btw, it's an honor to be quoted by Jerbilly

Howzabout twice? I can see if you have an item that you know will go way up in price as the auction carries on, but what is the point in any other case? Maybe I just don't get commerce, haha.

  • There isn't much you can do about it. Sorry, you had to go through with a complacent loser wannabe businessman like him. You can report him to E-bay and let the community know who he is. I had a guy do this to me once a long while back. I won a very small lot of PS1 games and paid immediately. I made a bid 3 days before it ended and apparently no one wanted it so I was the only bidder. He sent me a message demanding more money and "tried" to give me a business lecture on how he was losing money. I just told him his pestering about losing money was not my problem nor my business venture. I eventually just told him to keep his shit and reported him. He dared have the guts to asked for a cancellation citing "buyer did not agree to terms" to which I denied his request. I blocked him and ever since then I have been more cautious when making bids. They usually have low feedback and their listing is usually bland and unprofessional. Those are the guys who have no customer service and want a mansion for their crap. Ignore them no matter how cheaply enticing the price is.
  • I wonder when it was that people stopped viewing eBay as the garage sale of the Internet and started seeing it as some boutique shop where everything is worth more than retail.

It always amazes me to watch used items selling for more than what you could buy it for new if you'd just go to a store, or even Amazon for that matter.

Probably when people realized they could make money off people who are willing to pay.
