Someone selling fake gems on eBay, exact labels. Auctions ending within hours.

This type of thing makes me sad.

I don't even think anyone should be allowed to make a cart and have "Reprodcution" on the label, nevermind what this seller is doing. Repro Carts, as it says in the title, sure... but The labels are the same. After this purchase, it's going to be harder the tell the difference.

Even though the labels look pretty shitty... This sort of thing shouldn't be allowed. Hopefully we can shut down the sale?

Bonk's Adventure, Little Samson, Flinstones... all auctions ending in a couple hours.

  • Yep, whoever buys it can use it to scam. I'll try reporting the listings and the seller.
  • The labels look like shit

    They sure do.

Yeah, they sure do, as I said.

Someone could just beat them up even more and still sell them as real. A C&D2 just went for a crazy $$ just recently with a jacked up label.

Either way, I don't think ANY sort of "repro" games should be made. Label or not.

Sweet, how do we report the seller?

  • These things pop up all the time, its a shame. Ebay is happy to make millions on retro video games sold on their site, but when you report reproductions (described as repro's or not)with identical labels as the originals they generally do nothing.
  • Actually not sure if you can report the selling overall, but you can report each of his/her listings and I bet if too many of them are taken down his account will be banned.

    It's so screwed up.

In a few years, we are going to have to see the insides and proof of the rare carts when we buythem online.

Like really... how the hwll are we going to know what we're buying??

I'm just going to give up on Ebay. So sad.

Yeah, I keep reporting all the items I see. Such bullshit they're allowed to list them.

  • seems like that they will do anything to get a buck ...

that is the problem nowadays(s) esp. in anything in high demand =0/

    Yeah, it's ridiculous...

    Found another one.

  • There was a repro Little Samson on Kijiji for awhile and someone apparently bought it for $100, even though it was listed as a reproduction.

    Here's the link http://www.kijiji.ca/v-old-video-games/st-catharines/nintendo-games/1080212038?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true

Folk's are willing to buy fake's of high priced games because they are cheaper. I remember there was a thread awhile back where a member wanted a reproduction of Bubble Bobble Part 2.
  • I see at least 10 of these fucking things a week on eBay, a bunch on Dino Peaks sold for $125 each a week or so ago :/

    I sure don't understand it.

I wou;dn't want a fake copy of a game. So shitty that people are making them replicas of the originals.

Shitty... I report every one I see.
  • What are you guys the nintendo police? Mind your own business you cornball rent-a-cops.

Just another hustler/bootlegger weaving a web.
  • Nothing to be done about it, just report it and move on, or better yet, just don't get stuff like that get under your skin and just be more cautious when purchasing rare games in the future.

I've been saying for years about the negative aspects of these "repro" games, and it has always fallen on deaf ears here. The fact is though, just as some people want Japanese exclusives on NES carts, translations, unreleased games, etc, there is likewise a client base for rares at a fraction of the cost. It may suck for the hobby as a whole, but someone could argue that any of this crap sucks for the hobby, in some way or another. Pandora's box was opened long ago, nothing we can do about it now, just gotta take the good with the bad and hope that it was worth opening in the end.
  • Snitches get stitches.

Was going to report but it's already taken down. Good work.

Also, I don't know what the post above means tbh. Report these things but it's your fault in the first place for allowing JP translations to be produced?

It comes with the territory.  EVERY REPRODUCTION GAME is equal on a production level, whether a J-exclusive game, a Little Samson, an unreleased game, etc.  PERIOD.

People here put out the knowledge to make reproduction games, figured out how to mimic the real games so closely.  Due to those efforts, auctions like the one above is the result.  You gotta take the good with the bad, what you like with what you don't like.  So basically it is the community's fault for demanding an aestethic that their games all look so close to the originals.

Understood. I do see your point. Unfortunately I do recognize the double standard, but am ok with it. I am part of the problem.
  • What tracker says is not completely off. Like Paul Virilio once said, 'invent the plane you also invent the plane crash'. The knowledge of reproing comes with the knowledge of faking.

This said, it is not because we can profit of planes as a technology that we should be indifferent to plane crashes. The regulation of the bad for the good is the proper reaction to such problems.
  • Yes... these games should at least be reported.

Not the nintendo police, but if someone tried to sell anything like that on NA they would be set on fire.

One day you'll pick one of these up and pay a buttload for it and be out the cash. Enjoy.

No, I will not.  Because I know how to correctly identify games, Through PCB comparison and other means.  I also own multiple game bits that allow me access said PCB's quite easily.

Also, you get a fail for the day for necro quoting me while failing to see the sarcasm/ reference in my post.  Enjoy.

Okay, well... I suppose you will check every game. That's cool. Correction noted.

Not everyone is going to be able to do that because of technical knowledge, time, etc.

Well, if there was sarcasm or reference in your post then you are 100% correct, I did not get it. Not so much a necro bump because I didn't add anything unknown from before, I just so happened to miss being called a cornball rent a cop. If that's from a movie or something, I obviously didn't get it, haha.

Not everyone is going to have the technical know-how that you do. I'm sure even many retro games stores are going to accept games like these. Then flip them to people who "trust" (They would have no reason to question the store) the stores quality.

Don't get me wrong.  I love repros, but not ones of Licensed NTSC-US games.

I see. Haha, that guy really didn't like his situation here.

Anyways. This stuff needs to be reported. I didn't get the sarcasm. Got it now.
