Wii U Troubleshooting

So I have had my Wii U since launch, and everything has worked fine with it thus far.  I haven't played it for a couple weeks, and I went last night to turn it on, and the gamepad wouldn't communicate with the console.  It would tell me to power them off and try again.  After seeing this, I tried to resync the gamepad and the console, and I turned on my TV to the correct input, and the console would not output any audio/video to the TV (just says "No signal").  I tried searching around the internet, and found people who had a problem with the gamepad communicating, and who had a problem with the AV output, but never the same combo.  The other thing that people experienced was a blinking blue power light on the front of the console, but mine is still solid blue.

Any tips on what may be the problem?

  • I had a similar problem and had to disconnect my Wii U from the outlet. Once I did and powered it up it worked well.
  • I guess I should have said I've tried disconnecting the console, switching what input the HDMI cable is plugged into/switching out the HDMI cable, I've tried using just my pro controller to see if it would sync, all got me nowhere. Figured I would try here before contacting Nintendo for a potential pricey repair.
  • If you happen to have a set of old wii cables, you might try hooking those up, the wiiu might have even come with composite cables. With a different output detected, it should reset some of the video options, at least enough to let you see the screen to resync the gamepad. Then you can give the Hdmi another shot
