Found 3 cases of boxed and unused Nintendo game & watch in attic.Any value here?

Hi! I found this forum while browsing reddit - so this will be kind of an doublepost from the original in reddit, please apologise me for that. Im copy/pasting my post:

**********************************************

Hi everyone. Today i was back home at my old mans house and just out of curiosity i began to look in the attic for some nintendo cases I remember seeing there when i was growing up.

I had a closer look and found what looks to be quite a lot of unused and boxed nintendo game & watch.

I opened one up and from what I can see there is no battery installed in the gamepads, so they should be fully working (even tho the battery which is attached in package in plastic is now about 30 years + and looks to have began corrosion).

You can see the album of what i found here imgur.com/gallery/0q31G

Doney Kong JR x 8

Donkey Kong II x 4

Oil Panic x 12

Runawayx 4 (not nintendo)

So, do any of you guys have an idea of what this might be worth? And if there is some value here... where should i sell it? (FYI: Im a norwegian)

Cheers

So, do any of you guys have any idea what this could sell for? Im thinking, should i sell them item for item or as a whole?

  • Sitting on a goldmine there man...

Each one NIB is worth AT LEAST $50-100, probably more IMO, even if they are japanese ones like they look. There is well over $1.5k there either way.

The main thing is if you list them all at once you will most likely hurt the market and they will decrease in value just a bit while you sell them due to so many being available, so it's better to list onbe of each every 2 weeks or so at a good price so they sell "fast".

You could sell them 1 at a time on eBay or other places, or the lot, I'd say piece by piece is better because you will make more money in the end.

Hell give me 1 of each and 10% and I'll do all the work for you hahaha.

I'd love to buy one of each if you decide to sell/come up with a value.

EDIT: I just saw you are norwegian, so they are probably Japanese, maybe? What language are the box/manuals in? As for a place to sell them, a site like eBay would be your best bet, you could probably move at least some here or on a similar site.

The box/case they all came in are also somewhat desirable, though maybe not expensive.
  • I'm gona add, super JEALOUS! G&W are extremely hard to find in good shape here in America, just seeing how many you have in such nice shape makes me envious haha.

My opinion is 100% the same except I'd value each at Minimum $150 to what appear to be legit $250 sales for complete systems not even close to as nice as the OPs, they're NIB, at $50 he'd be giving them away.  In fact the more I look these guys up, the more value I see here.

OP sell them 1 at a time as to not flood the market, you are going to get hit up bigtime on this board, just make sure you get the realistic value you want!  Nice find and good luck!

  • DK Jr. and II are popular. In new condition those will sell for for 200-300 pretty easily. Maybe more at first, less as they continue to sell. Oil Panic has less of a demand, maybe 150-200. The amount you have will have an affect on the market price. Cool you have them in the original cases.

EDIT: As stated previously the region they were produced for will affect the price. If they have English instructions, paperwork, you will get higher end value for them.

I would agree. I was thinking they may have been the Japanese ones, but from his albumn they look to be english releases. So yeah, at least $100 each to be sure.

  • Great pics - Sell them one at at a time - and Im curious to the price of the packaging boxes are worth?
  • Those are some of the more common G&Ws there are, but this is worth at least 2 grand to me
  • What a killer first post ^^

Me as well, I'm sure the outer boxes are worth at least $20-50 each to someone.

  • Good first post and funny name, OP. You are a scholar and a gentleman.
  • Hi everyone!

Thank you for all your response and replies! Its really helpful!

@Viper0hr @batteriesnotincluded I will have a closer look at the box when i get home from work. I will have a closer look at the manuals later to see if it is the english version.

    @1337bcc1991 I do actually have a master's degree yay!
  • nice assortment of game related item(s) you have there for a 1st post ..

as you can see, there is interest in what you have.

if you decide to part way(s) with them, this will be probably one of the best place(s) to do that ( also because you wont have fees applied to it )

I'm sorry but I have to know. What's with the parentheses around your s's? (s)

And that is an amazing find, OP.

Me too. It's driving me somewhat insane.

  • I will be interested in buying a Donkey Kong Jr when you decide to do so.
  • Hey,

First of all, thank you for all your response!

I must admit that this seems to be worth far more than i could ever imagine, so its a bit fun.

I also found this som amusing that i had to go back and have a second look in the attic to see if i could find anything else of interest. Sadly I did not find any other new G&W, but i found an used "famicom"(?) with some games with it.

The case is not in great shape at all.. but i couldnt help myself from wondering: is this worth anything ? (and please do not laught if this is a 5 $ piece at max, i have no clue!)

Edit: next time i will remember to attach pictures the first time!

Edit 2: Did some research on the "famicom". This is just some cheap fake. Cant win them all Removed pictures!
  • I had to step away my copy of Fire and Ice for this one. These are sickkkkkkkk. I used to use a Czech site that tracked Game and Watch sales when I had a few of these. I'll see if I can find it again OP. All the guesstimates here seem low in my opinion.
  • There are SOOOOO many variations of these. But that Donkey Kong Jr is like $250 a piece new in that Grey NTSC version minimum....I sold one for like $150 and it was used with no batteries and a replacement battery cover in auction...
  • great find. I find total estimates low as well. I would put your 24 game and watches if sold seperately and since they are new old stock and htf like this at a profit of around 3000 after ebay/paypal fees is you ever went that route. I follow/collect game and watches and this is my opinion hence the reason I have a one of my many game & watches as my avatar photo.
  • Who shat a brick? ...ok just me then.
  • Looks great. Good luck.

Are you sure the Famicom is a clone/fake? You should re upload the pictures of it. Even if it is a clone, there's probably someone on this site that would be interested in it.

  • Very cool find. Did your father own a store or where did he get all of those?
  • Myballsarehawt
  • Damn that's so cool to see

Wish I had one of each hehe ( complete)

Only old beat up ones are found here in my area
  • -delete this one-

Yeah, my dad actually did run a store, a toy store in the 90s, so there are some funny items in the attic.

BUT! (and this is a big one). After doing some more investigation on this, it now turns out that the cases does not belong to my father, but to his friend who used some space in our attic in the 70s and 80s to store some of his products when he was doing some import/export in electronics business.

Which i kinda of a bummer. That being said, im going to speak to him and ask if he would be interested in selling them (and hopefully split profit with the finder, who knows).
