Noob Question - cleaning/fixing CD games

I bought a lot of Wii games and a few of them are scratched and won't play.  There's a lot of different methods I found when Googling how to fix them, but I thought the members here would have the best advice.  Can you please let me know how you fix scratched games without risking damaging them further.

Also, I see a lot of ebay auctions that have "buffered disk" in the title.  Is this seen as a good thing because the game has been cleaned, or is it bad because it needed to be buffered in the first place?

Thanks!

  • If they are expensive titles, then it's worth getting them resurfaced (buffed). It's a negative thing in comparison to a game that is in nice condition that has not been resurfaced, but it's better than having a game that is all scratched up and won't play.

How do I go about doing that?

  • if you have any local video rental stores or used game stores check with them to see if it's a service they offer.

Our family videos do it for like $1 here.
  • or you can resurface yourself. plenty of youtube videos on that subject.
  • Bump. Youtube videos all recommend different things. I'd like to get some advice from someone that knows what they are talking about (even if it's just recommending which youtube video is a good one).
  • cheap titles just get them buffed or buy a new one. expensive title get them resurfaced.
