Reasons for HDMI not to work.

The HDMI port on my laptop has decided to stop working, I have checked hardware, software, drivers, everything I could possible think of. I even took the laptop apart to see if it had seperated from the mother board. I have tried many different cables too.



Do these things just stop working?

    Have you tried more than 1 display? Maybe the HDMI is fine on your laptop but your displays HDMI has stopped working

    Not my display either, that works with my PS3 and my GF's laptop.

    try a different hdmi cable? or maybe a bit of contact cleaner inside the connection

    Sounds like it is the GPU in your laptop then, you could try re-flowing the solder on the pins of your laptops HDMI port and see if that works

    Are you sure you're using the correct display mode when its plugged in? If you're on windows 7 or 8, hold the windows key and press the P key. This will bring up a menu of display modes. Select Duplicate and see if it does anything for you.

    Does sound like the port has gone out, do as MrPete suggests and see if that works.
