Live demo of "make a listing" process
We have a live demo for the entire "make a listing" process in our upcoming marketplace.
http://videogames.pricecharting.com/page/market-sell
Would love to hear feedback from NintendoAge
In my tests it is ~60% faster than listing on eBay (63 seconds vs 149 seconds). I'd love to hear how long it takes you to make a listing.
It is just a demo so feel free to click on anything - you won't actually make a listing....but that feature/link might not be working yet.
Pro tips:
Thank you NintendoAge for your continued feedback on this project.

- How can we improve it?
- Any bugs you notice? (if you notice a bug please let me know browser and device your using)

Pro tips:
- You can choose a game with a UPC scanner
- Try it on a mobile device. The photo upload uses your device's native camera function.

Cons: You have all this pricing data but you're just showing me market price on the page?? C'mon -- I want to make a informed decision about my listing price. Show me a 1 year history chart. Or a minimum/maximum market value over the past year. Your market values are pretty good, but there are always exceptions where a game has just shot up 100% or dropped 100% because of a bad listing and it's not really representative of the market value. Competing on listing form length is good, but the real killer feature you could potentially have is giving us SO MUCH INFO to make a decision about price. It would be easy for eBay to redesign their listing page, but much more difficult to provide targeted, video game market value information because their reach is so broad. Exploit the niche you're in.
Pros: Quick and simple. The checkboxes for C/I/B are great, as are the checkboxes for condition. I would expand that even further. For example, a sticker on the plastic of a cart is easier to overlook for me than say, a sticker on the front label. Incetivizing pictures by lowering fees is a great model, but I would suspect that most people won't take pictures of every single cart from every angle. Having a really specific set of condition checkboxes would make up for that. With some careful design (in particular being mindful of Hicks Law and other UX stuff) I don't think it would add much time to the short process, which should be protected. A quick, simple process will get people to use it.

Wow, awesome feedback all around. Very through. I love the idea about providing more pricing info on the page. I'm making a note of that right now and will look into implementation.
Thank you.
So far I like the simplicity of the layout. Depending on what your answer is to my above question, it might be beneficial to include that info somewhere (condensed) on the explanation page.
Lastly, are there going to be shipping options that the buyer chooses per listing, or can they set that in their account settings? Eg: If I don't want to ship outside of the U.S., can I define that in my account?

Is this truly like the Amazon marketplace where you just choose a price and wait [x] amount of days/weeks/months/years for it to sell, or can we choose options that are closer to eBay, such as 7 day listing with a starting price and perhaps even a Buy-It-Now price?
At launch we will probably be fixed price only, but we are building into our data model the ability to do auctions and other selling formats too like best offers.

Good idea to include some info somewhere for people to read more policy type info if they want it. I'll think about how to include that so it doesn't clutter the page but gives info when needed.

Shipping in the USA will always be free. Sellers will need to factor that into their pricing. I've added some language to the page to make that clear.
For international shipping we do plan to give sellers the option to choose which countries they will ship to and set the prices for shipping to those countries. We will probably recommend defaults, but users can change those.
Buyers will always see the full item price when searching. For example, you list game for $10 and $4 to ship to Canada. I list for $9 with $4 shipping to Canada. Buyer will just see $14 and $13 as the list price.
