Family Vacation Movies

I've got a little project and need to do a bit of research. I know, tough life if I have to sit around watching summer hijinks movies . However, beyond Vacation, Vegas Vacation, and RV, I'm drawing a blank. So if you're up for it, help me put together a list of some good ones to watch. I'm thinking primarily comedies, but if you have a good recommendation otherwise feel free to give it. I'm looking for the things that happen to families as they travel, as well as some nice pop references or themes. Thanks!

-The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas

-The Great Outdoors

-RV

-Vacation

-Vegas Vacation

Note I missed the part where you said good movies, so I'm not sure about this one, as I've never watched it.
  • The Great Outdoors, John Candy and Dan Akroyd for the comedy win!
  • Maybe EuroTrip? Two of them are twins if that would count.
  • Oh and the Odd Couple 2, its not so much a family vacation movie but it is about two guys traveling to get to their son and daughters wedding (inlaws) and you don't have to see the first one to enjoy the second. Walter Mattheu and Jack Lemon for the win.

I came here to post this.
  • Dutch!

It's an awesome little movie with Al Bundy (I know, Ed Oneil, but he'll always be Al Bundy to me). He traveling across the country with his girlfriends spoiled kid in an effort to bond with him. It's like Al Bundy thrown into Home Alone.

OH! Just remembered, Planes, Trains & Automobiles is another John Candy road trip classic. Though it's not quite a family vacation, it still kinda works. John went on a lot of trips with people throughout his career

Time to drop some serious coin on a kick ass speed boat.

  • Summer Rental

    16 candles

    Better off Dead

    Weekend at Bernie's

    One Crazy Summer
  • You put Vacation and Vegas Vacation but not European Vacation
  • Several John Candy movies and one or two National Lampoon IRRC.
  • Escanaba in da Moonlight

    Ollie Hopnoodle's Haven of Bliss
  • My sister and I had a tradition of watching A Goofy Movie at the beginning of every summer when we were both in school. It's one of the very few "summer vacation" type movies I actually really like, partly because I just think it's funny and partly because Max and Goofy's relationship really reminds me of me and my dad lol. I recommend it.
