That's perfect for TG16, but what about PCE? "PCeeps" perhaps?

Welp, I've been collecting PCE for nearly a year now. First PCE purchase was on April 1st, go figure.

I have hit 35 titles just yesterday and am waiting for my 36th one which will remain a mystery

consisting of ten question marks for the time being in the link below.

    https://i.imgbox.com/OHq6Pazs.jpg

Since not many titles made it to the TG16, I'd like to express my opinion of

a few of the lesser known PCE exclusives I own.

    Genji Tsuushin Agedama

is one of those auto-scrolling run and guns which contain a couple of

stages with player-defined progression. In the same vein as popular platformers like Captain Novolin.

With great controls, graphics, sound and game mechanics (Your character charges their power and

unleashes a variety of attacks depending on your timing), I highly recommend it!

    Makai Prince Dorabocchan

is yet another platformer which happens to feature a character you may recognize from the SNES title,

The Twisted Tales of Spike McFang. Graphically, it appears to have been thrown together by the greatest

artists of all time via the famous, professional graphical program, MSpaint. Aside from the annoying running

mechanic, it's a fun little game. I recommend avoiding trying to run, it just makes the game frustrating.

    Marchen Maze

appears to be a graphically inferior port of the arcade game developed by Namco, but it's still surprisingly fun

and a relevant alternative to the original. With great controls, it's another recommendation. Just make sure

to jump right after firing in most situations, or you won't think twice about pulling poor Alice's pigtails violently

    from her scalp.

    Hana Taka Daka

is a cute 'em up where you must rescue a cute litte fox boy's female counterpart. Shooting things up isn't the

only objective, you must also locate hidden bonus levels to recover pieces of some Japanese thingy.

There's a boss who resembles Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger, 'nuff said.

    1943 Kai

isn't terribly obscure and appears to be an inferior port of the arcade original. With significantly inferior graphics

and lacking two stages, what makes this version worthwhile? The second half with new music, enemies, weapons,

locations and bosses. There are five of these stages in total, more than making up for missing two relatively dull

    levels.

    Zipang

is a better Solomon's Key, more or less. Very good stuff.

Yeah, this sounds like it could be an interesting story.

Yeah man. I came into contact with someone who used to distribute/work with SNK back in the 90's/early 2000's, he has a bunch of TurboGrafx 16 stuff for sale. Lots of high high end CIB stuff. Few manuals I need, and a great selection of regular CIC games. 3 or 4 CIB consoles as well.

He lives out in the middle of nowhere, so when he posted locally he got some pretty bad offers. He's been burnt in the past by the whole Paypal business/shipping thing, so he prefers local. And he's offering a good deal for a cash in hand type of transaction. The guy says if he's already shipping, he might as well go on Ebay and get full value; which makes absolute sense to me. He's no dummy.

I know it sounds ridiculous flying, but I have access to cheap flights through standyby passes. $85 CAN round trip lol. So like $60 USD. Saves money/time as it's a 17 hour drive and probably a few hundred $$ in gas.

I also couldn't locate any fellow colectors closer than an hours drive from the guy. So flying seemed like the most feasible choice.

But AANYYWAYS. This lot is pretty sweet, I'll post/send pictures to anyone curious on the pickup.

I'm incredibly curious. I've considered getting into Turbografx, so I'm keen to see what you get. Super jealous in fact lol.

It's such an enjoyable console. Both from a collectibility and quality gameplay perspective. I would highly reccomend at the very least getting a console/everdrive.

And hey, if you wanna dip your toe in the waters i'll have an extra CIB or loose console soon to start you off. I'll pass on the savings he's giving me to you.

Let me know for sure when you've got it. I'll be interested.
  • OK

So I was supposed to fly out Sunday to meet this guy, but we bumped it to today (posting this in the airport now lol). Story how i met this guy posted above ^^^

Here's my trolley I used to carry all of my bags around the airport after I met him. I was scared of things shifting, so I just laid everything flat. Funny story at the end.

    image

BAM, here's the first peek. The blue carrying case I brought specifically for the TG16 boxes. Underneath there's some TG16 box protectors I brought.

    image

Here's it all laid out, All the boxes have CIC games inside of them. Forever Boxing even has its poster, which I had no idea was included.

Some extra manuals for alien crush and Dungeon Explorer, and Falcon with its manual.

    image

In total there were 4 Turbografx consoles. 2 of them CIB, one boxed with no manual/styrofoam and the last one was console only. But here's the inserts for the one in the best condition.

    image

    image

And here's everything all in one picture! It took me awhile setting it up, and i'm sure I got some weird looks. But here it is in all its glory.

Each Box has its cords, controllers and a copy of keef curry. I would have taken everything out, but that stuffs really nothing special/ i wanted to pack it up again.

    image

Had to get up at 3AM and only got like 3 hours of sleep. It consumed my entire day as the next flight out was 8 hours after my arrival lol, But it was worth it meeting this guy. Great deal on everything, reliable and smooth meet up. Would definitely do again.

I also ripped my dress pants picking up everything lol. We did the deal outside, so I was a little impatient packing up. I wanted to get back inside the airport to look at everything in detail. I was also worried about stuff shifting if i tilted my carrying cases. So I deadlifted everything all at once and my pants split. Pics for proof.

  • Thus ends another chapter. Been collecting PCE for a year now, I think I'm done. Could have gotten

a few other titles like Gradius, NewZealand Story and Gunhed, but I couldn't make the one year deadline.

Holy shit there's a lot of good stuff in there! My favorite I think is Alice in Wonderland, or w/e the PCE name of it it. Dragon egg too! The definitive version of splatterhouse too, ahh there's so much A+ stuff. My wallets telling me to stop looking so I dont buy the ones i'm missing lol

Marchen Maze? There is also another game related to Alice titled Alice in Wonderdream which I do not own.

As much as I'd like to call it the definitive version, I'd say the FM Towns release is more formidable, but

it may also retain the inferior controls. They definitely improved on the engine for the PCE/TG16 port,

I just wish it didn't lose a large portion of the blood and gore.

Yeah! You're right, I guess that cover just reminds me of alice in wonderland. I always see it in peoples PCE pickups, so i'll have to check it out.

I never even knew about this Splatterhouse port though, wow though. I definitely see what you mean, it looks like the arcade port. Original cover art looks cool too. I know the north american release for spleterhouse is heavily sensored, and maybe reduced difficulty? And the PCE port just like every other game was overall better.
  • Any of my Turbros need anything here? PM me if there's something you need

  • Damn Feefle got a copy of Hana Taka Daka AND Solider blade?? That's pretty amazing
