  • I picked up a Duo R recently but haven't got my hands on anything too exciting. Lucky for me two things I love are old pro wrestling games and pachinko, so I'll eat up the cheap crap on this. Unlucky for me, I love 2D shooters as well. I'll be looking for some hidden gems. That is, I'll be looking around my grandmother's house for any gems she has hiding so I can sell them and afford some PCE games.
  • I have like 7 games. No system. :/

Just get em! Get all the shooters! Get em hard! Get em fast! Jam em in your slot with a smile and never let go jack!

Welcome to my life before 2pm today. If they're hucards, you can get a fairly cheap PCE. If they're turbocards, a TG-16

might run you a little more. If they're CD system, oh dear...

Have you heard of Fighting Run? I only play tested it today, but it seems better than what people generally

say about it. It's really cheap as well.

It's hard to describe, a sort of action game in general.

Thanks, I didn't want any cable hanging out of the system nor did I want to drill any holes in it,

so I just made a USB port for the AV cord.

I'm currently trying to pick up half of the NES rares, which is absolutely all my expendable income (especially at the rate all this BS seems to be ballooning these days). I've got it region modded so I can play TG16 Dungeon Explorer and Bonk's Adventure for now, it's not all pachinko and wrestling I promise!

I've never played Blazing Lasers, that seems like a solid first pick. Looks like it's only $60, a bargain for a TG16 game!

Blazing Lasers is definitely a good place to start! Very good shooter! Try and get Soldier Blade, Super Star Soldier and Air Zonk whenever you have the opportunity! Awesome stuff! Super Star Soldier may seem a little lackluster compared to Blazing Lasers and Soldier Blade but its still a great vertical shooter! Also, since you have it region modded, Final Soldier is awesome and cheap! Like $40- $50 new!

Apparently it is according to a review on VideoGameDen. I should try the game out when I'm not lazy.

Ive really been wanting both Neutopias but they are hard to come by complete :/ especially the 2nd one! Not sure why i haven't picked up Dungeon Explorer yet, seems im always after something else. I have all of those on my Wii tho!
  • Agree on Neutopia not easy to find that complete I just have Neutopia 2 loose and part 1 in a 3D printed case.

Funny you mentioned Dragon Slayer I'm at the end of that game and fought the most annoying boss in that game.

My Neutopia is loose with a manual. Someday I'll print out a sticker for it.

I also love the Legend of Heroes reboot on the PSP. Would like to try the original sometime.

I really enjoyed the psp Legend of Heroes games! Still have all of em. Juat saw recently they finally added Trails in the Sky chapter 2 to psn, gonna have to download that soon! I started playing Trails of Cold Steel recently on Vita but didnt get too far. Was sort of overwhelmed with games at the time and was finding it hard to focus on it. Seems like it will be pretty fun though!

Hmmm, tried the game out just now. It's difficult to figure out, doesn't seem so great anymore.

Oh well, it makes a good placeholder to keep dust out of the card slot. I managed to get a

good price for Don Doko Don today, that will help me forget about Fighting Run...

    Thats a shame!
  • I would love to collect for this system, but besides 2 systems I never found anything for TG-16 in 8 years of collecting so that the main reason I don't collect for it.

Yeah, i never find any Turbo stuff in the wild, the store i go to sometimes has loose hu cards but never anything too special. So I've resorted to online buying for some stuff but most i got from collectors here.

Turbo stuff was hard to find when it was brand new in the 90's and even more so now.  There are a few retro shops around the Dallas area that sometimes have some turbo stuff but it's not common.  I get most of my stuff online from other collectors and sometimes on ebay.  You can find deals on ebay if you don't just go for buy it nows.  Some of my games have come from far off places like France and Spain.  Amazes me sometimes that turbo stuff got all over the world.

I've gotten a few games off ebay from auctions, good good deals too! Got that Time Cruise CiB with outer box for $80 recently which seemed like a decent deal.

Yeah I found a new adventure Island loose for less than $50 which was really good on ebay.  I have actually gotten some great deals on here when people have sold their collections.

  • I began playing PCE games like it's serious business and found the D-pad on the controller very poor, so

I modded it a bit by grinding down the center dome and applying a few layers of duct tape pieces in it's

place. Is it normal to require pushing down on the directional pad in order for things like directional inputs

    to work reliably?

I often mod controllers for systems released prior to the N64/PS1 era to improve sensitivity anyway.

One exception is the six button Sega Genesis controller, it's perfect in every way and requires no

    modification.

not sure if PCE and turbo are the same but I had this issue with my turbo controller. I thought it was just a bad controller

From what I remember, it's very similar if not the same. After I had modified and adjusted the layers of duct tape in the center

directional pad, I reached a satisfactory sensitivity.

If you find yourself having to push the pad in excessively, you could try what I did. In hindsight, I should have only ground down

a tiny bit of the center, until it was just the correct depth. However, without a dome in the center, you get an incredibly sensitive D-pad

and you'll often end up pressing all four directions at once in the heat of gameplay.
