DAMNIT...Honestly though, next time I get there I am pretty confident I will get it......the timing to hit him is a bitch though you gotta make sure to do it right before the hole or else he will just get more ahead....I saw the electric gate twice but hit it both times

I still think Volkmire's is the hardest level to get passed....no other level has taken that many lives from me yet... not even close.
Terra Tubes I passed on my 3rd attempt and elevator maybe 5th or 6th...Rat Race I almost passed on my second attempt....it was my first attempt at the third race.
You'll get very good at Volkmire's to where it's not much of an issue anymore. It starts out as one of the hardest for sure though, and it's definitely not a stage you want to enter while you're tired or drunk lol.
I found the elevator to be one of the easiest stages.

A similar aggravation took place once when I was on the Ice Cavern, and one of the ice blocks got stuck behind a defeated snowman against a wall. Everytime I'd try to pick up the block, I'd just throw a snowball. Needless to say, I had to reset and was pissed.
As if there weren't enough difficulties getting through this game, right? Keep going dude!

That glitch sucks! Its happened to me a couple of times. I noticed it seems to happen when you pass through the gate while the rat is right above you. On the plus side, at least the boss fight is easy (when you actually can get to it)

I skip levels all the time to focus on the parts that are giving me issues. Then, I play again another day and go straight through.
I'd say try and beat the game first, then go back and deal with that shit. There's so much more left to deal with to get caught up there, lol.

If you want to beat Ninja Gaiden the cheap way, you can keep going back to the final bosses with the spin slash. It kills bosses in one hit. If you keep trying with that method, you will beat it after awhile. I had to do it that way the first time.
It's definitely more satisfying to defeat them with just your sword.
I keep coming back to this thread because it's good to see that others feel my pain of Battletoads, too. Getting to the Rat Race and beyond takes serious patience.
Here's a run of mine: 999,999 points, Max-Out.
It's not a perfect run, as I've maxed out in Surf City... level 5 I think. And I don't get too far in the end I just die to finish the game, but it's just me messing around playing some Battletoads. Just thought some might like to see how others play.
on the wookie hole, you try to fight the robots, instead of just taking them out with a single wrecking ball...
Also, I think this is the first time I've ever seen someone actually play through the entire 4th stage of the snake pit, (vs just taking the shortcut)
In the Wookie Hole, yes, I'm trying to max the score so I give the robots soft little baby hits until they die.
In terms of The Snake Pit... I didn't know that move at the time. I didn't research tips or tricks because I wanted to smash it with only my knowledge.
I only learned of that from watching online videos later.... Meh. I never really found that level very difficult anyways.

I've never been able to pull that trick off before. Maybe I need to practice it a little bit more.
