I managed to squeeze in a Battletoads run this weekend. Made it all the way to level 12, the revolution. I was pretty rusty. Took me a lot of lives to get back into the timing of it. Last time, I spend a solid month on this level, lets hope its not as bad this time. On a side note: I'm amazed how much easier Volkmire's has gotten after beating it a few times!
Awesome work, sir! I can only imagine what it's like to be able to get this far, lol. Volkmire's is still a challenge for me depending on how my flow is going that day. Overall, the game is getting easier for the most part.
I can make it to Terra Tubes every time now with 5 or less deaths, furthest I have made it in Terra Tubes is just passed the first gear chase section where you have to jump over those spike pillars.

I can make it to the third (I think it's the final gear in that section) gear, and one of the jumps is just so precise and asinine, I waste all my lives on that one part, lmao.
I can make it to Terra Tubes every time now with 5 or less deaths, furthest I have made it in Terra Tubes is just passed the first gear chase section where you have to jump over those spike pillars.
I can make it to the third (I think it's the final gear in that section) gear, and one of the jumps is just so precise and asinine, I waste all my lives on that one part, lmao.
I believe there is 4 gears in the section.
1. Simple run and jump.
2.You have to fall right, left, right then jump to make it blowup at the end
3. This is the water one.
4. You have to hug right, left, right, left (I think) then drop into the water

For some god forsaken reason, I could NOT jump between the first several platforms on Turbo Tunnel. Not even the race portion; literally the first couple of jumps in the level. It was like I was brand new.
I proceeded to turn the game off rather quickly, lol.
I just may need an extended break from this game, as much as I hate to say it.

When you think of all the awesome sprites, the comedy, the difficulty, level design, graphics, music, babe of a final boss..... it really is under-appreciated for how good of a game it really is.... it is way to over-shadowed by how hard it is...but honestly if I bought this game back in the day for full price I would have been estatic, you get your moneys worth!

I've made it slightly further in Terra Tubes, but not by much. I've officially been taking a break from the game since my last run on Monday. Now I'm playing Zelda II and playing through that while saving the crystals for the end of the game. A good game to take a break with, IMHO.

Did a run this morning passed the Terra Tubes.... only had 3 lives for the next level though...managed to get through the 1st rat race with ease but then lost all 3 lives on the second race.
Edit - Honestly by the time you reach this point in the game you have overcame so much....considering I passed Terra Tubes on my 5th attempt it really is not a hard level by any means.

It makes a massive difference playing with no delay, makes Volkmire's especially a lot easier......I find that with those sections that have fast scrolling are easier especially like the fireballs in Volkmire's you don't have to look to one side of the TV so much and you can focus a lot better on both sides of the TV to coordinate yourself.

I had it going on this morning not going to lie..........I had almost 900k points by the end I was done the Terra Tubes...
I didn't even see hearts dissapearing until like 6-7 deaths in Terra Tubes..I kept thinking to myself "HOW MANY FUCKING LIVES DO I HAVE!?!?"
Level 12 though that is badass I should be there soon or later... we will see how bad the third rat race is...level 11 honestly doesn't seem to bad.

DAMNIT...Honestly though, next time I get there I am pretty confident I will get it......the timing to hit him is a bitch though you gotta make sure to do it right before the hole or else he will just get more ahead....I saw the electric gate twice but hit it both times

Dude, trust me, I know. This entire last week has been total shit in terms of BT for me. I've been dying in ways I've never ever died before on the first 3 levels (platform jumping on Turbo Tunnel takes the cake as most infuriating), and slipping up on easy parts else where.
Sometimes, I think I just need an extended break from the game. Like a solid week, or at least 5 full days off.
I'm going to experiment and not touch the game until next weekend.
I think it was just because I was drunk....... I am doing fine tonight, gained (3) 1-ups on the drop-in stage via crows and no deaths up until Snake Pit so far.
I definitely wasn't intoxicated, which made it all the more infuriating lol.
I've been away all weekend watching a friend's house, so I've played zero NES. I might jump back to Silver Surfer for a bit and then dive back into Battletoads. I was semi-scarred by the easy deaths; I hope I haven't hit the AVGN plateau of "sucking all over again" after kicking ass

Any progress? I made it a bit further in the terra tubes just to the section where you can kill those piranha type dudes.

I've made it slightly further in Terra Tubes, but not by much. I've officially been taking a break from the game since my last run on Monday. Now I'm playing Zelda II and playing through that while saving the crystals for the end of the game. A good game to take a break with, IMHO.

Did a run this morning passed the Terra Tubes.... only had 3 lives for the next level though...managed to get through the 1st rat race with ease but then lost all 3 lives on the second race.
Edit - Honestly by the time you reach this point in the game you have overcame so much....considering I passed Terra Tubes on my 5th attempt it really is not a hard level by any means.

Oddly enough I got a CRT earlier this week, I have been looking for a replacement one for a bit since my old one was bonked.
It makes a massive difference playing with no delay, makes Volkmire's especially a lot easier......I find that with those sections that have fast scrolling are easier especially like the fireballs in Volkmire's you don't have to look to one side of the TV so much and you can focus a lot better on both sides of the TV to coordinate yourself.

I played it again and made it to level 12 again... its brutal. I just picked up a game genie the other day. I might it be fun to try some of the level select codes with it.
I had it going on this morning not going to lie..........I had almost 900k points by the end I was done the Terra Tubes...
I didn't even see hearts dissapearing until like 6-7 deaths in Terra Tubes..I kept thinking to myself "HOW MANY FUCKING LIVES DO I HAVE!?!?"
Level 12 though that is badass I should be there soon or later... we will see how bad the third rat race is...level 11 honestly doesn't seem to bad.

DAMNIT...Honestly though, next time I get there I am pretty confident I will get it......the timing to hit him is a bitch though you gotta make sure to do it right before the hole or else he will just get more ahead....I saw the electric gate twice but hit it both times
