But like every season, just gotta hope for the best.

I definitely think the Colts take it all this year. They added some great former Canes and the more Canes the better chances to do well in the playoffs

As a Miami fan I'd love to hear your thoughts on their RB situation. Lamar Miller all the way, or is he going to be overtaken?

As a Miami fan I can say the Dolphins have been a mess for years. Not sure why the signed tanahill. He's had one winning season and never been to the playoffs. There a mess this season too .

As a fan of the sport, I would have to say the Dolphins took a gamble on Tannehill. His stats are nice, but he is not capable of easy wide-open deep passes. Mike Wallace was blamed, when in fact Tannehill does not have a deep ball. What will Tannehill blame now?

I use to cringe every time I had to watch mike Wallace slow down and wait for a ball from tannehill. Funny thing was he had his man beat so bad he would still make the catch 1/2 the time.

I agree tannehill looks good on paper but he doesn't win games. When you need him to make a drive or even a couple of plays to win he just doesn't seem to have it.

Correct! No use in having a deep threat if you cannot use it.
  • You'd have to admit that he's the best qb they've had since Marino at least. You guys went through a serious string of bums.
  • So the Cowboys didn't get uncle Rico but the qb from the bills

The Dolphins have had a ton of starting QB's. I am not saying he is not good, I am saying he has flaws like all players, but a deep ball is a must. Did they overpay? Time will tell, but he has not taken a team to the playoffs, so right off the bat it seems they did. His most dependable receiver is Landry, and he did not even get looked at when he was wide open. How does that happen?

The best qb since Marino has been chad Pennington. And it's the ownership that is a mess in Miami, has been ever since Wayne H. sold 95%. If they really wanted a good football team they would have given the tuna part ownership. But they refused so he walked. That was the last time Miami was even taken seriously, when parcells was GM.

As far as RB go it's a shame knowshawn got hurt. He looked good in the 1-1/2 games he played in a Dolphins uniform. I like miller as much as the next Miami fan but he doesn't have what it takes just like his QB. The funny thing is tannehill is the best runner on the team.

Time had already told that the tannehill deal was a mistake. He gets sacked all to much (shotty O line or not), he doesn't get rid of the ball. Not much of a deep ball. Not the best decision maker.... I like the guy but he just doesn't have it.

Yeah that sucks, would have been cool to see the van parked in front of Cowboys Stadium.

At least they have not thrown in the towel! It would have also been nice to see NFL Films get footage from Uncle Rico's camera... that thing is ancient!

I could of swore i once read chad Pennington had the highest completion percentage ever, it was out of at least 2500...i think. Definitely a overlooked qb. Shame he couldn't seem to ever stay healthy

pennington was accurate because he had to be. He already had a weak arm, and his shoulder injuries destroyed it. I dont think he could really even throw it past 25-30 yards lol. He was a move the chains QB.

I think pennigton is third most accurate all time. It's true he couldn't throw much past 25-30 yards. He was accurate because he was a good decision maker and a skilled mid range passer. Give him a good RB and he could win games. He had that will to win.

It was kind of bitter sweet as a Miami fan beings how he came from the jets. But he got us to the playoffs and won the division in the same year, 2008. He the. Threw 5 interceptions in the first round against Baltimore.

  • Sry parcells was VP not GM. Im sure parcells was picking out the players he wanted.
  • I find it entertaining how Tannehills receivers were called the best he has had and he plays like he only has 1. They are the bottom of the AFC East and I wonder how many people are going to be freaking out should they lose to the Bills, which I can see happening.
  • not a big fan of the league but I really have been enjoying hard knocks on hbo combined with being a huge Michigan state fan (brian hoyer) what the hell is going on in Houston? Hoyer already got pulled (admittedly he is not a great qb) after being named starter and mallet was 28 for 56 last week? Ryan mallet is a huge scrotum

Mallet is better than hoyer though. Why in the world does houston want to play a journeymen QB instead of just seeing what they have in a young QB with potential like mallet. I hate stop gap crappy vet QBs. Dallas had so many between aikman and romo. Atleast they moved on quickly early on (hutchinson, carter, henson). They tried a ton of prospects out, but man parcells just kept starting vinny and bledsoe until he just had to make a move.
  • I'm inclined to agree. Too short a leash is put on guys these days at qb. Guys like Mallett or Manziel should be starting over guys like Brian Hoyer and Josh McCown. Those guys are GREAT backups but that's it. We already know where their ceiling is.

Not the situation from what I recall, do you remember when Vinny Testaverde came by his last time to start for the Jets?

Ha dude that is funny.  I guess because i dont follow the cowboys i kinda just think romo was aikmans replacement.  i forgot about all those dudes between them haha

Definetely mallet has more upside.  Hoyer at best would be somwhere between 25 and 15th best qb at best.  mallet has a lot of potential but that guy is a dummy and a deusche.  I know he had big character problems in college at michigan and i thought i read elsewhere he was being a crybaby dick at houston.  My point is why in the hell would you name hoyer the starter have him go 18-34 with 1 and 1 and pull the plug?   I mean those numbers are not good i know but they are not 15 for 40 with 2 or 3 picks?   I didnt think bill obrien was  a knee jerk reaction type guy but i would think if you decide to start hoyer or mallet give them 4 games or until it is really clear they are terrible.  This flippy floppy qb shit never works, how long will he keep mallet in before he pulls the plug on him?

Also what gives with texas?  Not sure if you are a horns fan but why the hell did they demote the oc and dc after one game?   I mean shit like that after one game is terrible doesnt stuff like that basically just tell your team you are in full panic mode.  How bizarre must that be to not get fired but demoted?  what a weird dynamic

I mostly agree also but it greatly depends oin the team around them.  i dont know much about either team but all i know is trent dilfer won a super bowl and coaches have 2 years of not making playoffs before they are fired and maybe never get another chance.

If obrien thought hoyer would be a good enough game manager to go to the playoffs with arien foster (not sure if healthy) and the defense i think he has to be selfish there.  If he starts mallet and they go 0-4 he basically has next year to right the ship or he is fired.

The leash is even shorter on coaches so if i were in his shoes it would be tough to take a gamble on a guy with high upside if you think the backup gets you more wins and saves your job.  This is the culture the nfl created

Texas made the right move. Heard is a much better playmaking QB. Did you not watch texas last year? The offense was putrid and didnt look any different the first game. Charlie strong made the right call in demoting his friend and giving the job to someone new. Tough decision but charlie strong is not going to get blamed for the crappy offense. had to do something. Tyrone Swoopes was absolutely horrible. Last week vs Cal texas lost because they missed an extra point with a minute left. But it almost felt like a win the offense played so well.. hadnt looked that good since colt mccoy 5 years ago.

  • Totally agree their offense needed a change but after the last 2 games last season i was suprised he didnt make the change after the season but instead after 1 game

I had just never seen a double demotion like that after 1 game instead of an offseason. They did look great on offense last last week
  • I thought the redskins were supposed to be good jone ? Sicne they have a game manager QB and a good D you said?

This is embarrassingly bad on both sides of the ball.

edit: you know Im just doing this to provoke you

The defense will get a huge boost from rolando mclain and hardy coming back week 5. Defense has looked pretty oportunistic and decent the first two weeks.

Hate to break it to you, but without Romo and Dez, the Cowboys suck too

Go Skins, we have the #1 Defense in the NFL in terms of total yards allowed right now.  And guess what else, #1 Rushing Offense.  If you can run the ball down the opponents throat, play good defense, and have a QB that is a great game manager (what Kirk Cousins is doing), that's a recipe for success.

So far two weeks into the season things are wide open across the board.  Every team has their flaws and there is no dominant front runner other than maybe the Pats.

    too soon?
