I am trying to find instructional videos on youtube but there really isnt any good ones.

Will this one do?

I guess the only issue I have with the direct stereo method which is the one I will do since it is a bit easier are these capacitors soldered to the board at all or are they just hanging on soldered on by two wires?

its generally the same but uses a diffrent area for mono to stereo mixing.
Are any of the stereo mods actually any good? The NES is mono by design, so the attempts at "stereo mixing" by playing square/triangle waves over different channels sound like crap.
I have heard some comparisons and it seems like they arent to shabby however it is by no means "true" stereo.
Since I have all my systems hooked up through my receiver and out two kenwood tower speakers and the NES is the only one that dosen't actually come out of both speakers it would be nice to have the sound coming from both for consistancy.

From the first part on the link nes freak posted:
"The NES has been designed to output mono sound. This was acceptable back then, but nowadays we expect/need stereo outputs. If you wish to connect your NES to a stereo amplifier, you need an Y cable. You will hear the same sound in both speakers."
Maybe you just need a cable rather than modding anything? I can see (hear?) how having one speaker unused would be annoying

I will check into it... for my Genesis rather than modding I just us a 3.5mm audio jack to RCA since the audio from the DIN only is mono but the audio jack outputs stereo?
There has to be an easy solution like that one.... like I said as long as I can get sound out of both speakers that will more than sufficient.
Thanks dude.
RCA Y adapter cable is what you need. NES is incapable of real stereo sound.
Thanks man, I know NES even with the hardware mod is technically just a "faux" stereo but it would have been nice...
This will do the trick though man it is much much easier solution.
Thank you for sharing that piece of information!
The stereo mod is honestly a waste of money. Even if you were to get a potentiometer installed to allow mixing for each game, it's still a pain in the ass to play around with the pot every time you play a new game. Even within one game, the many different tracks will often require their own pot adjustments to sound half-way decent. Save yourself some money and go with the Y adapter.
I read that as well explains why they suggest to install the knobs to adjust the levels for each game.
The Y adapater is such a better option not sure why you don't see this more often as a suggestion instead.
I'm totally getting a Y-cable tomorrow and testing this out.

I just ordered one after Gunt'z post... I have read some of his posts on other topics and he has blown my mind with his knowledge with electronics.
