  • It's really cold here too, I think its about 65 outside, burrr! image
  • its about -15 f here

supposed to get to -40 later sometime... can't wait for that
  • it was like 20 here this morning and it was freezing!! We have the nasty thick feeling cold with the humidity in it. First time I have worn long sleeves all year, plus the wind is blowing pretty strong as well.

    ~~NGD
  • Yuck. Ice on the ground here, but nowhere near THAT cold.

Reminds me of the story about a guy I knew moving from Algeria to Canada in the winter during a really bad cold snap. The day he stepped off the plane it was 50 below, and he'd never even owned a jacket.
  • It's 25 F in Nashville, and later this week it will get to 2f which is damn cold for Nashville..

I don't know how you do it Will.. I'd have to move somewhere warmer.. Even with all of my fat, I couldn't take it..
  • A few weeks ago here (north Washington) it was nearing -10 F (-23 C) w/ the wind chill included...that was too painful.

Now it's back to around 40 F (4 C), which is MUCH more doable.
  • its around -15 f and the sun is out... global warming my ass
  • ....in here Mr. Bigglesworth!!!

Yes, a great combo of cold and snow has hit the Chicago area. I am getting out of here soon, but South Korea won't be much better.
  • It's a brisk 15 degrees here right now, but tomorrow the high is 2 and the low is supposed to reach -12. Yay.
  • not sure of the temp here. probally close to 30. Will you need a better heating system in the old igloo lol

Although you DO get used to it, there's no way you can get used to -30ish weather. You just can't. When -10 comes back, that will be fine because it will feel damn right tropical to us.. but -30 is just stupid.

Some of you might have to scrape your cars in the morning (to get the ice off). But try scraping it for a few minutes when its -30, and THEN going into your car to scrape the INSIDE of your windows/windshield. Walking outside with skin exposed makes the area exposed (like your face) numb after a few minutes.

I'd love to move somewhere warmer. Specifically in Canada, Vancouver looks pretty darn nice right now. +5... and thats in the dead of winter.

  • I wanna get out of Chicago. Way too cold. They were saying on the news that we shouldn't be out too long, because it's dangerous. When I was leaving my house today, there were 5 crashes right outside my neighbroorhood!
  • Today here in Chicago Its gonna b -1 tommrow. im where Supernesman is and its freaken cold
  • I hear you on the scraping the inside and outside of the windows I had to do that this morning. you know its to cold when you are working inside and have to go outside, but once you get outside you cant take a full breath of air because it hurts to breath in deeply.
  • Up here in Ohio its been in the 20's. One day its 35 and the next thing you know theres snow all over the place. The whether is getting crazy. I don't think I could take -20. I can walk around in a t shirt in 20 or 30 degrees but negative 20? Shit!!!
  • Its been warmer up here, above freezing, its raining and all of our snow is melting

look at the bright side its going to be -2 by tuesday  lol

  • It's headed for some nasty cold temperatures here, as well... It was 17°F this morning (versus a forecast low of 22°F), and it's forecast to be around 20°F tonight. Not bad? They're calling for 27°F during the day Thursday (scattered snow showers tonight and into the morning), and near 0°F Friday morning, with 20-mph winds (which equals a wind chill of WTF). All I hope is that the lock de-icer is handy: my driver's side door lock tends to freeze when the temperatures are at or below 25°F for any extended period of time (>2 hours), and the passenger's side door locks are a pain to open.

Yeah, don't take big breaths when it's too far below freezing.  You can actually do major damage to your lungs.
  • this might sound crazy to some of you, but when it gets this cold (negative temps) I like to go walking on the frozen creeks in the woods. It also has to be cloudy out, because even at negative temps, the sunshine can still melt the ice a little bit. And it's not that deep anyway, it's good clean fun!
  • Here in southeastern Louisiana, we're definitely feeling the intense arctic airmass associated with a cold area of high pressure. It's 33F right now, and could reach the low 30s or upper 20s tonight. Under a Hard Freeze Watch here. I'm supposed to be going to north-central Mississippi in a day or so, where overnight lows could plummet all the way into the mid teens.

  • On my drive to work today in Chicagoland my car said it was -18F out. It even had a tough time starting.
  • i hate this crap!

  • 4 here, and with the windchill -7....gotta love the Northeast.
  • its supposed to get down to -45 tonight or tomorrow morning,

    can't wait...
  • the guy I work with wasn't able to make it in to work today the reason

a.)2 cold for the work vehicle to start he said it tried to turn over once then nothing.

b.) killed the battery because of the cold

another way to tell its cold out is that you can't hold onto the steering wheel because it feels like your skin is burning when you do. that was this morning.

I think I'm going to have to invest in a heavy duty extention cord to plug my beast in with.

  • ^^^^ or you could try these magical hand covering devices known as gloves. they use patented hand shielding technology to protect your hands from cold or hot surfaces.
  • ^^^ For the guys looking forward to -40 degrees (that awesome point where Fahrenheit and Celsius meet), you can actually get heated gloves.
  • and all the real nice warm gloves I own slip on the steering wheel when I try to turn.. image
  • Put that bumpy stuff on the palms that you see on mechanics gloves.
