I came here to say this and body harvest. Glad someone else remembers these.
BAR had some of the best arcade racing gameplay ever IMO. The collection of the boxes was clever adding replay value, the levels look amazing, the controls were tight. It was just a really fun game that no one seems to really remember.
And body harvest is basically a PRE GTA with aliens. I remember being blown away when i found out you could get in the vehicles and drive them. And the levels were sandbox style so it was one of the first games that really made me feel i had a choice of where to go. In the end the missions were all the same so the sandbox is on the smaller side. But for it's time i thought i was a solid game.
