I think perhaps the mother went too far when she called the cops. I would've just unplugged the Xbox, and hid it from him. Also, the fact that she's ignoring the kid's calls tells me that she is basically the same as he is.

    If turning it off caused him to attack her, you think hiding it would have solved the problem?  Wasn't there a case not too long ago of a boy who killed his father and wounded his mom because they took a game away from him?   Her only wrong was not stoping this trend in the first place.
    I commend her for not answering his calls.  She obviously has let the XBOX raise her son, since it notes he won't work or go to school.  at 19, I was paying my own way through school; if he wasn't going to try school, she should have charged him rent/bills/food costs. 

    19 and throwing childish temper tantrums.  Kid needs to spend a day in jail, learn what it's like to actually grow up.

    Well really he is 19. If the Xbox is his, she shouldnt have touched it, and if she hid it, he could send her to jail for theft. If your son is an adult, you have no right to demand he eats meals on your time, or tell him when he can and cannot play video games. It seems like there is a power struggle in the household, and they are both acting immaturely. All that being said, you have no right to push, slap, or (lol) throw tacos at another adult, no matter who they are, and you deserve a night in the pen for something so dumb. If it is true that the son is not going to school, and refusing to go to work, and you want to help him.. Stop treating him like hes 15. "Zachary Moir! no more video games untill you come down here and eat your dinner!" is not gonna help him, or phase him. Let him know he has two months to find a job, or find a homeless shelter. Tell him hes a man now, and if he doesnt start paying bills, hes going to be evicted.
