Thank you...

  • I live in an apartment.

I moved out when I was 23 (about 1 year after I graduated college).

I think after college is about the right time to move out, but it's different for different families. I know some families expect you to be on your own at 18, while some families want you to stay forever and ever(like mine did - they are still upset that I moved out)
  • I have my own house.

Moved out when I was 22.

I think you should move out soon after you graduate college.
  • I'm 24 and still live at home, very happily as I'm an only child and I think my parents actually enjoy my company or they'd be bored.

I think that you shouldn't move out until you can afford to buy. Why waste money on rent when you can live at home for free? When you are buying a house, mortgage payments are written off on taxes, and you actually have an asset that you can sell.

I also think that there is no "age" to move out, because a person who graduated college gets out at 22 with no money, but a person who only went to high school has 4 years of work under their belt at age 22. Very different circumstances there...
  • I own my own condo (with my brother).

We purchased it when we were 23.

I think you should move out shortly after college and once you have a career. I spent an extra 18 months at home to save up cash to help on the down payment of my place and I couldn't be happier. I was pretty dead set on not renting again (had an apartment my senior year of college), so I had no problem toughing it out with the folks until I was ready to buy.
  • Live in a house,

I moved out at about 18-19 when I went off to college

I think you should try to move out by 19-22 (23-25 at the very latest)
  • 1. I rent a house, but need more space for my games so I've been looking for a castle... image

    2. My mom moved out when I was 19...

    3. 19-22
  • I own my own house, but I don't see anything wrong with renting if the price works out favorably (as is the case in many markets right now).

I moved out when I was 18 and went to college.

If you go to college you should move out then, and live on campus if possible.

If you end up living in the same city as your parents, I don't see anything wrong with saving money for the first couple of years of work, by living at home. Too many people grow up with a ridiculous expectation that they have some kind of inalienable right to live in their own place. At the very least most people need to start with a roommate to split costs. But there is no shame in living at home when you're starting out at the average entry level salary in most fields.

  • Building my next house.

Moved out at 20 into my first condo. I have never rented.

you should be out of your house by 25 at the LATEST, I would say 21 would be ideal. Unless there is good reason not too.

  • Still living with my mom. image No plans on moving out any time soon.
  • Live in prison, I mean apartment with girlfreind(same thing).

    22

right after college or grad, etc.
  • I was in and out of my parent's place throughout college. I moved around a lot so they were always the temporary place to live until I decided where I was going next. There shouldn't be a set "rule" as to when someone should move out but I do think more people need to take a chance and move to some place completely foreign to them at some point early in post-high-school life. Put yourself completely out there and just see where life takes you. It's really a mind blowing thing to do. I wouldn't trade my marriage and family for anything but prior to it I had some pretty phenomenal experiences just kinda going wherever felt right.
  • Apartment. A rather spacious apartment, I might add. image

I still live with my parents, but plan to move out over the next couple years.

I've always thought 18 was the perfect age to move out.

Why waste money on rent? Well (for me at least) if I ever wanna get laid again, I'd have to get out of my parents house. A very good reason to waste money on rent.

To answer the question in the pole, I still live at home, I just graduated from college a few months ago.  I am on my way to Korea for a year.  I consider this a temporary stop over living at home.  I lived with roommates in various apartments throughout college.  Last year I did paid for it all on my own, but it would not have been possible without roommates.  After Korea, I would have to move back in with my parents for a little while.  Depending on how things go, I may either try to get my own place back in Chicago (the p's live in the burbs, lame!) or go to Alaska the following summer for some additional post college fucking off or hell maybe even hike the Appalachian Trail.  My parents house will always be a place to stay temporarily while I'm hopping around the world doing this and that.  Whenever I am done with that and decide to throw my life away, eerrr I mean settle down and get a career, then I am clear the fuck out of my parents place.
  • 23 and living on my own during the week (student housing) and with my parents in the weekends image
