Anybody else prefer SNES over Genesis?
Been playing a bunch of my Genesis games recently and it really hit me just how poorly they've held up. I own a fair share of Genesis games but personally I gotta say the SNES is by far a better console with much better games. Anyone else feel that way?

I think most people here agree the SNES is categorically better, but there's some damn fine games in the Genesis library too. If you're looking for very nice music and graphics, any computer or modern console can run circles around both so there's much more to whether a game is good than that.
I prefer to evaluate games on a game-by-game basis rather than what system they are on.
The 16-bit console wars died quite some time ago.
They both have their strengths and weaknesses, but for as long as I can remember I preferred my Genesis. I had both as a kid, and pretty early on too so I was able to enjoy them both at about the same time, but there was something about the Genesis that kept me coming back to it. I loved all the Sonic games, it had the Treasure games, the best Batman games, the best versions of Contra and Castlevania...I liked my SNES, don't get me wrong, but my SNES library mostly consisted of first-party Nintendo stuff whereas I had a much bigger selection for the Genesis and these days I feel like most of my game nostalgia is directed at the Genesis and the NES over anything else.
I'll always treasure my SNES memories, particularly stuff like Mario World and Earthbound, but when push comes to shove...well, I need something that can do what Nintendon't.
Fire away, boys, I've made myself an open target!
What Genesis games are you even playing?
I would like to know this as well please.
Both systems have their positives but there's a reason why the snes is more popular.
You mean improper business conduct by Nintendo? I got me $5 cause of that, w00t. Had to spend it on new nes games that cost $60+ though, never did understand how that was a win....
NES as well...
The genesis controller was, and always will be, terrible.
SNES > Genesis. Any day of the week.

100% this.
Genesis had a several tripple A titles, but the SNES library is full of 16 bit masterpieces.
Personally, I always thought the genesis had some great exclusives like Comix Zone and Xmen II, and also had the better versions of a lot of games Adv of Batman and Robin. That said, I have to echo what others have said here - the controller was horrendous. Always felt awkward. Still does. I also think a lot of the games aged better with the SNES. Games like Sonic and Bubsy, which I loved as a kid, just give me a headache today with the large sprites and lack of forward visibility.
I, SIR, POLITELY DISAGREE!

Make that two targets, because I feel the same way.

Probably all of us lol.
I'm an unashamed Genny-girl but given the forums audience, this is an incredibly silly question.
If you like rpgs im sure snes is tops...
My rebuttal to that statement sir!
Be that as it may, I have love and respect for the Genesis, but truth be told I tried getting back into it in 2006, and just couldn't. The SNES though grabbed me (again) and never let go. Brock mentioned the SNES' top 10 games can't be touched. I've always said the SNES library is so strong that I'd gladly pit its 11-20th best games against any system's TOP 10... it's amazing how crazy good the SNES library is.
Love the SNES, but Genesis does what Nintendon't!
I would have to lean toward the Super Nintendo. As much as I loved Sonic 2, Vectorman and X-Men these games couldn't contend with stuff like LoZ: A Link to the Past or Super Metroid.
LTTP and Super Metroid are often regarded as the two best games on the SNES, while Vectorman and X-Men are no where near the top 10 of the Genesis library. That's not a very fair comparison IMO.

I agree whole heartedly. But I've never had the opportunity to play the classics like Phantasy Star, Streets of Rage or Shining Force. And my choice isn't set in stone so someday given I'm able to play some of the elite Genesis titles my opinion could change.
