Faking a Stadium Events

Is it really that hard? I was telling a friend of mine how WCTM is the same game with a different title screen, so he asked if it would be as easy to fake as it sounds. I don't know much about making games, but it does seem like it would be relatively easy to put a copy of Stadium Events on a WCTM cart, then print a label. Is there something I'm missing?

  • The weight will be off slightly, but more telling, anyone inspecting the board will see that it's got an EPROM on it.

Also, faking the label to make one that would fool the naked eye of a collector looking to invest the $ that it would take to own one of these would be difficult. Takes a particular kind of label with a particular gloss, and access to a 4-color-offset printing press. The duplicator would also need to own an original to make the label scan, as it would need to be inflated to super hi-res to come out right in the printing process.

So, you're correct in that you can use WCTM as a donor.
  • If you want to run a confidence game, there are much more profitable ways to do it than preying on the few people interested in Stadium Events.
  • It is easy to fake SE. That's why we had the April Fool's day edition SE. It's easy to fake but as Dangevin said, impossible to make a perfect copy.
