I don't know if I count as a collector for Xbox, but I saved my OG Xbox and all the games (about 200+). I still play Odd World and Strangers Wrath yearly.
To answer that Steel Battalion system link question you can only play steel battalion over lan with the steel battalion Line of Contact disc. You can system link up to 10 steel battalions and I have had the privilege to take part in one. Be warned though to host one you have to have a table for each set up so a minimum of 10 tables.
Trying to set up a steel battalion 10 player lan at the upcoming 2nd annual Maui Comic Con on Maui. Yeah yeah I know it is not as big as the san diego comicon or the Amazing Hawaii comic con but it still is a Comic con. Aside from that the other xbox games to be showcase at the comic con are Crimson skies, battlefront 2, outrun 2, halo 1 and 2, counter-strike, star wars Jedi Academy, star wars Republic Commando and we are shooting for at least 16 xboxes.
So if you happen to be on Maui on October 28th to the 29th it wull be held at the Maui Community College the Xbox and retro gaming area will be set up free to the public. End shameless plug
I've been focusing a lot on Xbox lately, there are so many good games. My local game store has 5 for $10 on games $2.99 and under so I picked up all of these for about $2 each!
Got these four (sealed) on eBay for around $40, about retail. Still love seeing quality games for so cheap.

Futurama is one of the rarer titles on the system. I have it but have not had a chance to play it yet. I'm a sucker for XBOX platformers so I assume it'll get played through...
Collecting for the Xbox the past 5 years has been a lot of fun. Some of my best finds were Xyanide $5 and Otogi 2 for $7 and stubbs brand new $30. Game are so cheap it's easy to build an awesome collection. I pretty much have every game I want at around 100 games. I've moved my attention to other systems.
I figured I'd take a look at Amazon and ran across these. Everything else I looked at was rediculously high but these were much cheaper than ebay.
I also just got a CIB Steel Battalion set but the box got roughed up in the mail and I'm still a bit upset about it...

That's what reddit is saying as well. So bizarre because I've tested/played maybe 40 games in the past month and this one is the only one giving me issues. Of course it has to be JP Operation Genesis so I can't just get a different copy lol. I was thinking about going the softmod route and just installing an iso of it.. assume I can do that after a softmod anyway

That is very odd. I guess its good that it is backwards compatible! I'm in the process of pulling the clock capacitor out of one of my Xboxes. I might try my hand at softmodding one of them in the near future
To lay a little backstory, I have absolutely no retro game stores around here. Therefore, I do not get to find the steals and deals everyone else has the fortune to find. Xbox is always something I have wanted to get back into. I paid 150 for this on EBay, which may have been a little much (free shipping though!). 3 Dukes, 1 S controller, and 37 games. Nothing rare or too expensive as far as I can tell but there's a few classics and fun games in there. Everything is in like new shape.

Yes. I've already seen a slight price increase for Morrowind. GameStop really drove up the value of XBOX 360 titles that were backwards compatible. Shit, some games were in their less than $5 bin and after BC they increased to $20+.

I picked up Futurama for more than I wanted to pay but I just don't see it often. It surprised me as being more fun than people gave it credit for.
