Blast Corps!

I just got a copy of blast corpsfor maybe $5. I'm simply loving it, so simple yet so much fun! What are your favorite parts about it? What's your favorite vehicle/level? What would you like to see if they ever made a sequal??

  • Blast Corps was one of my favorite games when it came out.

Haven't played it since then, so I don't remember much of the details, but i'm always on the lookout for it.
  • Haven't played it in 15 years, but I was addicted until I had all golds
  • Yep one of the most unexpected rents back in the day led me to just go out and buy it... Loved the Mech
  • Are we talking Blast Corps? Or is Blast Core some unknown Atari game I've yet to hear about?
  • If we're talking about Blast Corps, then yes I do love playing it even to this day, and I love the soundtrack. My favorite vehicle has got to be the giant robot that stomps down buildings, that's too much fun.
  • Blast Corps was one of my favorite N64 games back in the day. I don't remember too much detail about it given that I haven't played it since the late 1990s, but it was a lot of fun.
  • It took me a long time to really understand what people found so fun about the game. Then I realized I was overthinking it. It's just about destroying stuff! Then it became fun. It's been a while since I played it but I had the most fun with the dump truck (the one where you kind of swerve and hit the buildings with the back of your vehicle). Since Blast Corps is made and owned by Rare, there won't be another Blast Corps on a Nintendo platform but maybe on Xbox One. I think adding more vehicles and more challenges is really all you'd need to make a good sequel.
  • One of my absolute favorite N64 games. So much fun! Mr. T's van was so cool! I got all golds and tons of platinums, but I gave up on those later level platinums...darn near impossible
  • I like Blast Corps but Twisted Metal 2 (came out a year earlier on PS) is so much better IMO. I played the hell out of TM2 and beat the game with every character. You can also play as Darktooth with Gameshark codes.

Vigilante 8 is another good one for both N64 and PS. I prefer the PS version because it looks better and it's fun flying the spaceship! The sequel 2nd Offense didn't quite live up to the original IMO.

Blast Corps really isn't a car arena battler though.

It's just a casual romp of mission-based building destruction set to David Wise music. It's relaxing, and I really haven't played another game quite like it. The closest I can think of off-hand is the Pilotwings series, but of course that has flying goals instead of demolition goals.

Well they both give you vehicles which destroy stuff so I guess that's what I meant. There is plenty of stuff (that aren't cars) to blow up and destroy in TM2...a lot of them are kind of easter eggs that you have to figure out. Both fun games!

Oh yeah definitely. TM2 is one of the best games ever made, IMO.

  • Blast Corps is my favorite game on the N64. Me and my college roommate spent countless hours beating each level until we finally beat the entire game. We then tried to get gold on each level. After getting gold we realized there was also a platinum for each level. After probably 200 hours of gameplay between us we had never gotten one platinum medal. Now I want to play Blast Corps again...
  • Blast Corps is excellent and it appears on any proper "Best of N64" list. A couple of the levels are difficult (looking at you Dark Heartland), but I"m glad it was re-released on the Rare Collection for a new audience to enjoy.
  • Blast Corps owns. It was one of the first N64 games I ever played and it really just grabbed me with how simple and fun the concept was. I never quite got the hang of a lot of the vehicles, but the robot sections were always pure, unmitigated joy - the one with the jetpack and the one with the big arm were particularly fun to me.
  • Just picked this one up about 3 months ago along with Doom 64, Mario Party 2 and a bunch of other stuff. Only played it long enough to make sure it worked. But I loved how much destruction I could reign with just a simple plow truck. Will have to sit down and play this when I get some time.
