Things to use as an alternative to NES OEM console shell

I am wanting to mount an NES board into something other than the OEM shell (or toaster since that has been done)



Any ideas? 



Not really looking into doing any electronic modification work unless it is absolutely neccesary.



Would also still want it to function as a front-loader.



**Must be wood or plastic or another softer material so I can work with it**

    This sounds interesting. What exactly do you have in mind? Share some pics when you complete what you are setting out to do.

    VCR. Plenty around and it'll fulfill the original intent of the NES design. Might have to rig a way to open the door, though.

    I was thinking this as well and is probably one of the most logical things to be honest.



    The only thing that may be a pain in the ass is all of the ports (everything not just a VCR)

    You could find one of the top loading designs, where the lid comes up to put in the tape, then shuts flat. Would shut the game in similar to how you push it down in the toaster.

    I've always dreamed of engineering an NES coffee pot of some sort...
