^ I do the same. I will grind in a palace before getting to a boss so I get two levels for the price of one, but I've never held back crystals.

Waiting to gather Crystals was an uphill battle at first, but proved to be worth it for me in the end. I'll probably play differently next time, though! Now I know what to expect, which makes ALL the difference in a game like this!
