Ever have a console that only glitches out on one game? And you've tried different carts?
I have an old Sega Genesis model 2 that has an issue with "Golden Axe" for some reason. When I get to stage 8 and fight Death Bringer, his magic will sometimes make the screen glitch like crazy. It's still playable but the graphics become all garbled. And then it goes back to normal when the stage is over.

I thought it was the cartridge. So I ordered another one from the internet. That one didn't glitch at first, but then it started happening with my new cart. Other games seem to play fine. I wonder why the graphics would mess up on this one game at this one part.

But this is actually something I've ran into with routers before. We were activating a multi-link T1, 4 T1s, 2 on one card, 2 on another card, and we just could not get all 4 up at once. Put the cards into a customer owned router, all 4 T1s came right up no issues, but we also put 2 customer owned cards into the router, they also came right up and worked. Generally if the pins on the inside are a bit weak connection wise, or you have a dirty pin, they're more likely to be affected by dirty\damaged\defective edge connectors.
Yea, but the odd one for me is it's great giana sisters on C64, that's disk based, so I think there's something bad with that C64's video chip and the game uses something others don't.
C64s can have weird issues. I have a diagnostic cart/harness here for troubleshooting.
Are you seeing a full ram count when the C64 boots up? "38911 Basic Bytes Free"
When the ram chips slowly die off the ram count is lower (but not always). They are the cheapest parts to repair.
Sid chips etc are getting expensive though.
Failing or aftermarket power supplies can cause random issues.
Thankfully genesis consoles are cheap and easy to replace.

Yes try resetting that chip and toss out the top cardboard shield. That thing holds in too much heat. I have opened many C64s and they have no consistency with sockets. Somethings all are sockets and sometimes only a few.
My main testing NES doesn't like Dr Mario- the menu items are set to invalid values on bootup. Once you adjust them back to normal levels everything is fine. Have had several copies do the same thing.
Now that's what I'm talking about. The unpredictability of real hardware is interesting. Games don't always behave the same way on every console.
I guess the game's too intense for it.
Mostly for me it's glitchy carts. I've got a Tetris and a Mig 29 Soviet Fighter that work maybe two times out of five on different consoles.
