Best games on EVERY console!
I was looking around the internet and happeneded upon this list that was literally the best games on every system. Poster says its out of date, but how out of date could a favorite games list be for systems that are like 30 years old anyways!

After talking about the whole quality vs quanity thing I decided I'm going to be more aggressive about getting specific titles I want. Generally my collecting strategy is just finding whatever I find that is a good deal and filling out my collection. I have aqquired several good games this way, but I just get what I get. So I think I am going to start just specifically buying a game or two a month that I actually WANT to have in my collection. That list of games and honorable mentions seems to be a great place to start, but I'm sure there could be a few missing games. So I thought I would just make a post here and see what everyone thought. Any recommendations on games that aren't on the list?
I don't think I'm going to be too specific about the number of games per system... I think 25 or so a system would contain the vast majority of really good games on the system.

"Final Fight CD" is supposed to be a great port. If I got a Sega CD that would be one of my first purchases.
Thanks! That does bring up another point I forgot to mention. I'm not looking specifically for just system exclusives, but if they aren't exclusive I would like to know which console is considered to have the best port of the selection.
But I would have put "Shinobi" series in the Genesis top 10 and "Secret of Mana" in the SNES top 10.
Actraiser
Super Castlevania IV
Demon's Crest
Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts
Super Punch Out
Donkey Kong Country 2
Super Bomberman 2
Tetris Attack
Super Mario All-Stars
Wild Guns
Mega Man X
Contra III
Earthbound
Super Mario RPG
Super Mario World
Super Metroid
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy III
Zelda Link to the Past
...although the average person would probably replace the two Natsume games with Secret of Mana, Yoshi's Island, TMNT IV, Super Mario Kart, etc.

Yep, lots of good games there, I agree with all of them. SNES is easy = P
Although any SNES list without TMNT IV or Mario Kart is blasphemous!
Mario 64
Smash Bros
Mario kart 64
Donkey Kong 64
Banjo Kazooie or Tooie
Conkers bad fur day
Sin and punishment which is an import but still worth it
Star fox 64
Paper Mario
Kirby 64
Wave race
Pokémon Snap
Most people would say the two Zelda's but not me. I should really get around to playing those
I disagree, then again I don't find all critically acclaimed games much fun.
I also compiled lists of my top 10 favorite video-games per console with 10 honorable mentions.
Games sorted by year, genre, are also part of honorable mentions.
Determining objective best games is nauseating and boring.
SMS is totally wrong:
I kind of wondered about that myself because I know of Ys, Phantasy Star and Golden Axe Warrior. But I never had an SMS, and that is still one of the systems that I dont have right now and plan on getting sometime soon, so I didn't really know where to start with the games besides those few and Sonic games. Thanks
I dont have much experience with Turbografx, Neo Geo (that could be a while lol), or Saturn either.
Meh- subjective lists.

Thanks for the list man. Yea, alot of it is all subjective, but if you get enough input from enough sources you can begin to see what the really standout games are. Which is why I didn't just want to work on one random list I found on the internets. =P

I don't know, Link to the Past being better than Super Valis IV is about as close as to an objective statement as we're gonna get in here
I hear you though, most of my (all-time) top 20 are not in other people's top 20s

Your welcome. I see your point, but most people do not include exclusive import titles (that are fully playable in english) most of the time and other variants. Those are my personal favorite games for each system,genre,decade- I tried not to repeat any as well.
If you are looking for objective best game lists you can check out compiled lists from all users Gaming > System.

That's awesome! I didn't realize such a public compiled favorites list existed like that. That's pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Not that I will follow it exactly, but such a public list like that pretty much guarantees that any great game worth playing is at least going to make an appearance somehwere in the top 40 or 50. Makes it much easier to make sure I don't miss out giving consideration to a great game just because I didn't happen to think about it at the time.
In fact... I think looking through those lists may have just made up my mind for the second game after Sonic CD. I think it may be..... ...... ......
Dragon Quest VIII. Heard great things!
