Kid Dracula - Nintendo Famicom
So we are playing the Famicom version of Kid Dracula and it's definitely amazing in the way that Splatterhouse on the Famicom is, however this game gets way more difficult in the last few levels! I don't think I ever really played past the first could stages and I always thought it was easier. I actually got all the way up to the boss before the final boss, due to getting lucky in the lottery mini game, and when I died I had to start the level (including a boss fight at the beginning) over again! That's Ninja Gaiden-lite. Definitely a surprise.
I also like how this version is different than the Gameboy Kid Dracula. In that one, for example, you start out with the bat power up whereas in the Famicom game you don't earn that until the 4th level. Different level designs and everything. Really cool.

Great game, though. Another good reason to own a Famicom.
Agreed, I just played through this the other week and the difficulty really does ramp up later in the game. The level where you are vertically climbing up the "tube" with all sorts of shit coming at you, man i raged a few times.
Yeah, I had trouble with the tube section too, it was insane until I learned the patterns. Luckily I'm pretty good with it so it wasn't terrible going through, but it did eat away on my lives.
I don't think having Castlevania experience has helped me much, I mean I did just go through and 100% Rondo of Blood. The thing is, I'm talking on my first Continue/Play Through and I didn't continue, which I will in the next day or so.

Exactly what I was going to say. Technically you can get a copy but whoever sells it is technically doing shady practices.

Man, ain't that the way of all repros? I don't pass judgment by any means, I even own a few repros myself and I love them, but you can't really deny there's something iffy about the whole thing, even moreso than emulation since nobody really profits from ROM downloads. Foxhack doesn't want people making Kid Dracula repros and all he did was translate it - imagine if Konami found out, how would they feel?

No. Some people truly don't care. But lets not derail the thread eh? QuickThumbs has some additional information now and it's ultimately his choice on how to spend his money from here.
